well this will be the last time i EVER take the coast seriously I have just finished reading the movie review for Star Trek where the reviewer basically decided to be against everything other reviewers say about it which leads me to believe that the coast only cares about being rebels and “stickin it to the maaaaaaan” Star trek was fuckin awesome probably the best movie ive seen in a very long time and im vry excited for the upcoming sequel they did a fantastic job with the visuals as well as the cast, story, etc……….so perhaps the coast should either get a new reviewer or just plain stop reviewing

I wouldn’t be to harsh in ditching the coast altogether. It’s fair for someone to dislike a movie. Personally, I love all of the Star Trek films and this one was no exception – I thought it was excellently made. I don’t have a problem with the author disliking it, but I do like to know the reasons why. The review was just so egocentric and painful to read. If the author had expanded on their points and not written it like a high school essay, that would have been great.
*GASP*
Someone didn’t like your beloved Star Trek movie????
BOYCOTT, BOYCOTT !
Go on a hunger strike until they print a retraction.
please.
I’d like to see if you can make it to thursday.
I don’t think the issue is whether or not the critic liked or disliked the Star Trek movie but the way it was painfully written. It seemed like the critic wasn’t even commenting on the movie itself at all.
William Shatner said it best: ‘GET A LIFE, PEOPLE!!’
Where’s the logic in this? The second the paper prints something you disagree with – something as trivial as a movie review – you would go as far as to say you’ll never read it again. Do you demand this of everything in your life? If a friend did something you didn’t agree with would you never speak to them again?
OP is just pissed because nobody cares that he slept outside for 3 days to get tickets…
I fucking love the tag on this bitch.
I”m just shocked to see that the review wasn’t written by Palermo, because usually it’s his reviews that suck. Still not enough to stop me from coming here.
Agreed PK, you know the people at The Coast don’t care if you stop reading when they have that wicked of a sense of humor.
I had my share to say about that review too. It was awful. It could have been summed up in one line, “duh, I dunno, duh hu ha”. It’s like she took a long long haul off a potent pot joint or 10 then got swallowed by the theater chair until it was over. Simply put, the review came out of the side of her head.
A review is one person’s opinion. That you disagree affects the fate of the world how? Take reviews with a grain of Vulcan assdust.
TTFN, I’m sure we’d have nothing to bitch about if Jane actually had an (informed) opinion or even some reasoning behind it. Read the review. It was a waste of of brain space for the reader and a waste of a paycheck for Jane… unless she gets some kind of bonus for stimulating the bitches then give her a raise. A well done piece of shit for a “review”
What’s funny is that it is The Coast that is getting all up in arms about people not liking the review.
PK – thanks for pointing that out, that’s hilarious. However I doubt that the OP was ever in a serious relationship with the coast anyways.
It would have been ok if it was a review (whether the reviewer liked or hated it) but it was painful to read and I still don’t know what the hell Jane’s whatever was trying to say.
“Jane only goes to movies, what she sees isn’t up to her.”
Wow, no shit Jane. What a fucking stupid thing to say. The review is terribly written, the third person shit annoys the fuck out of me. But come on, never reading The Coast again? You’ll be back next Thursday.
I’m not really a Star trek fan, and have next to no interest in seeing the film, but I have to say, the review was pretty lame. What was even more lame was the numerous Coast employees jumping in to vehemently defend the review. WTF is that all about?!
Obviously, quite a few people disliked the way the review was written and since this website has enabled readers to comment on its articles, it only makes sense that they would express their opinions in the comments section. For some reason, readers’ opinions of this particular article caused certain Coast employees to experience ‘rage blackouts’ and resort to juvenile tactics like mocking people’s usernames and insinuating that people are cowards for not attaching their real names to their posts. For a moment, I thought I was reading LTWWB 🙂
Honestly, I thought the article sucked, but it’s the unnecessarily angry reactions that truly made me lose a bit of respect for certain employees of this publication. I thought the whole point of a comments section was to allow readers to give feedback on articles. A healthy amount of debate and/or disagreement is to be expected. If anything, the author of of an article should be the one to defend what was written, and one would hope that they would be able to refrain from stooping to the level of a shit-slinging internet flamer in their defense. Hilary Titley, the author of the Star trek review, has herself criticized other movie reviews in the commentary section of this site, which provoked no reaction from anyone, at all.
