If you hate Nova Scotia, leave. Many of us are able to easily find good paying jobs, if you can’t it’s your own damn problem. It’s not the fault of the NS government, it’s not the fault of the people setting prices for food here. I’ve only just received my masters degree, but already I’ve had multiple job offers, all of which are well above the salary I was expecting (also well above the “30’s”.
To the people bitching about pointless stupid shit, get over your sheltered little life, no one wants to hear about it. So I hate to say it but this thing is causing too much strife for me, and I’m done. Thanks to the many people commenting, you’ve given me lots of laughs over the past few years.—Up and gone

I used to think like this. I was an excellent single mom, had just finished putting myself through school, got a job in my field with degree in hand I had the world in the palm of my hand. I’d step over those pesky, lazy, drunken, addict pan-handlers thinking nobody helped me get my shit together or handed me free coins so what’s their problem? I’d avoid all the “fucked up” people in the “circle” because I was so much healthier than they were either in my upbringing, experience, intelligence or simple application of common sense… no, I was and was going to stay a winner. And then…. I GREW UP. REALITY HAPPENED and I realized life isn’t 100% consistently ANYTHING let alone fuckin’ roses. I realized that just because I hadn’t fallen and needed help getting up didn’t mean people around me who had fallen were anything less or more than lil ol’ me where potential is concerned.
One day, OP, you’ll realize people have LOTS of reasons to complain and entering into the big bad world with your big bad degree… well, you’re about to get your share of reasons to bitch. Soon you’ll raise your head and maybe even start raising kids and then your perspective will widen. LTWWB will be here when it happens to ya and we won’t even say “I told you so” when you and your degree say FUCK NS with it’s high tax and high crime.

While it’s good that you have your master’s OP, not everyone in this province has one, so they’re not quite as lucky to have people knocking down their doors. This province will be in real trouble in the next 20 to 30 years. The baby boomers are dying, and there’s this massive talent vacuum that will need to be filled, meanwhile, we’re still shipping young people out west to jobs. Meanwhile, the school system is still preaching “go to university”, and basic jobs like plumbing and carpentry are falling to the wayside. Christ, the Carpenter’s Union takes in people off the street, they’re so desperate for people.
I’m willing to bet the OP landed the first professional wage they’ve ever had and suddenly $450/mo for their shared accommodation doesn’t seem too hard to manage. Just wait for it… it ALWAYS rains. Eventually. Soon enough VISA will get a whiff of that new wage and THEN let the games begin.

Fever I am with you on the trades being missed out altogether and university being pushed. AS there is nothnig wrong with that beside high debt loads and most of the degreed ones hearing alot of ” big mac and fries please” Trades are short usually ( 2 years ) and when done, you actually go out in the workforce , trade unions or whatever and start making good wage .
I’ve never been to university – but I have plenty trade school and have made good wage in NS at the time and many other provinces . I guess my point is this . I can show up with tools and a truck and pretty much get a job on the basis of my days performance . Degree jobs I doubt are that easy to get and the amount of work and compitition these jobs have can take forever to get.
Stay in school kids !!! University or trade – We all need people for whatever the need may be . Just a side note – Should you lack education – theres a few provinces that start jack off laborers at 20 bucks an hour .

IF you’ve got a masters degree, & your happy with a salary in the “30’s”, I’m some glad I didn’t go to university !
I make up around 6 figures & I really don’t know how I would survive on less !Our scale is $40.00+ an hour, overtime after 8 hours, to 1.5, to triple at 12 hours, then there’s meal penalty, turnaround, 6th day (double)& 7th day (triple) rates normal work days 13hours. But I do not have a regular work schedual & can pick which jobs I want to do.
Because I also own a rental company, that fills the pot up as well.
After bills & partying, booze, broads & bars, I just waste whatever’s left on travel ! 30’s…wouldn’t pay my bar tab ! ! !

Unfortunately I’m stuck down here in reality & reality says, flat busted, broke losers, do not get young nubile girls lining up to suck your member ! Everytime i hear a story that i then attempt to check out where all these perfect women with absolutely no designs on anyone & they’re warm, wet & willing are hanging out…I always seem to just miss them…you know should have been here last week, last month etc. Also here in reality I have a sweetie coming over tonight there’ll be no money changing hands ,but its expected that since i invited her to dinner…that there be a dinner, with wine, good food, conversation & !gasp! other company here as well, as per my invite. But hey, I might get lucky & at the worst i’ll have laid out a few dollars to spend an evening with friends.

This time I’m paying & i’m fine with that, it was my idea… perhaps you really shouldn’t judge the behavior of others who are doing nothing to hurt you or harm anyone else. If/when you live long enough, you just might get the urge to get off with something besides the palm sisters…with no strings, no excuses & no lies. Also on the plus side no one gets hurt & everything is above board. They call it the oldest profession in the world, because that’s the truth & women have been shaking their money maker for all of time & probably will right up until there are no humans left ! If you think a woman who marries a guy, has his kids , isn’t on par with a girl who just uses guy’s for personal gain, fine that makes you & all the religious people happy. But the way i see it, that’s just another way a guy gets some action & the woman gets paid. Although there is a bunch more to it than that, basicly that’s what it boils down to.
He’s caring for her needs, shes taking care of his. What really freaks me out is when i hear married guy’s saying they’re not getting any at home ! That Is LAME, way LAME & if I was in a situation like that & she was a super great Mom, I’d probably stay so i could help with our children, but I guarantee the ladies at the local whore house & I would be on a first name basis. I see no need to go without & since I would be paying & getting none, paying a bit more for some, isn’t a big deal & from what I hear medically sex is good for you !
