I know there are certain places online where anyone can post a free job opening ad, and maybe they’re not the best places to look for work, but I believe in using every available resource. But it would be really, really nice for someone to proofread these things before you post them. If I have to take the time to edit and review my resume for errors, shouldn’t an employer do the same for their job ad? Aside from making sure nobody with a brain applies for your job opening, you’re also making your supposedly “repitable” company look really, really bad. Nevermind the fact that you clearly don’t expect to play by the same rules as your employees when you ask that they have a “pst-secndary edutaction”. And don’t even get me started about job ads that are either so specific that no one qualifies, or so general that a horny rhesus monkey could do them… —Smacking Forehead

  1. As someone who has hired people , by posting the job onplaces like Career Beacon etc.
When you get an e-mail from someone who has their resume on Job shop…they (the website) want you the employer, to register to view these resume’s.
Sorry if i can’t click on it & download it, I’m not about to waste time trying to get on a web site to view your’s. Also it isn’t just me, I have had this conversation in the past & others aren’t wasting their time either.
So if you’re trying to find a job, some of the places you’re posting that all important resume, isn’t making it easy for the employers, which does you the job seeker a disservice.

  2. More, the bitch is about employers (like you) who can’t be bothered to get rid of the fucking typos in your postings. It makes someone like me, who cares about that kind of thing, skim over your ad and not take you seriously because you look like a fucking bonehead.

I guess that’s why I also usually skim over your posts on LTWWB.

  3. More you’re hiring people, yet you can’t even correctly spell the word “yours”.

(Hint: there’s no apostrophe in yours…)

  4. hahaha!
grammurrr N spellin theze dayz sux dont cha no!

im a lazy typer, but if i was posting a job ad, i would definitly revise and proof read two or three times! i like this bitch! 🙂

  5. ralmn…I don’t write my ads…I’ve got a secretary to do that.
I’m the poor speller/SOB who does the hiring .

Yes Happy Go Lucky, I am hiring, me a non university trained business owner.

  6. When I went to school my teacher always told me that the people who are exceptional at proofing/grammar/spelling are usually the one’s working for the “idea/seller/closer/dog-pony show” person. I can sell chicken soup to chickens but sometime have issues with my grammar, and I’m ok with that. 🙂

  7. if they are only looking for ho’s, why bother correcting anything. the ones that would apply, are only doing so for the money, not the grammer. who really gives a shit anymore huh, you have texting, and that is way fucked up.

  8. I hate this too – it’s ye olde double-standard. “You have to pay attention to the details, but I don’t”.
It’s like going to the Doctor’s office – the patient has to wait if the Dr. is running late, but ever tried to get your Dr. to wait for *you*? HA!

  9. Our company only posts jobs externally because we must, but the majority of positions are filled internally and through employees recommending other university educated friends. For the fuck of it OP, start sending out resumes plagued with errors and see it anyone contacts you. Maybe you could get some funding from the arts program for it.

  10. I always enjoy reading the Coast’s classifieds. There was one a few days ago that said something like, a man looking for pretty university girls to spend time with when he came into the city from Sydney and would pay all of your bills, food, transportation whatever. He did have some requirements that he did not want any drama. And he also added he was a cute, 20-something athlete. How much you want to bet he’s the Sleep Watcher? hahaha.

  11. Grammar and spelling errors in professional settings should be totally unacceptable, but will likely become the norm since schools no longer place importance on things like correct spelling. Online newspapers across the country are a fine example of this. On a daily basis there are grammar and spelling mistakes made by people who are PAID to have a proper command of the english language. This is professionalism? In what other fields are poor writing skills now becoming part of the norm? Medicine? Engineering? Aviation? It is scary, when you think about it.
