All I ask for is to be able to walk up Spring Garden Road on my way to work without being accosted by people who want my money. I see you there on the street, and if I wanted to give you my money, I would. But I don’t, so stop asking for it. Is it too much to ask to be left in peace, without drunken bums badgering me for my money?

The number of bums in the downtown area seems to have tripled over the last year. Makes you wonder how many are truly needy. Like the guy by the library who jumps in his car at the end of the day. Or the dude on Connaught Ave who has $11,000 in his bank account. Or the squee-gee kids belting back a bottle of Jack Daniels at the Willow Tree. Or the little deaf dude on Barrington who runs up to the NSLC after his ‘shift’. Fuck off, all of you.
Its only going to get worst. Take a trip to Vancouver.
yup just the other day i was coming back from a job interview and a guy asked me for money while waiting for the bus. he was healthy and able to work from what I could see. I just told him no get a job!
Tell homeless people in person. Don’t be shy to give them a good scare if you don’t want to be bothered. Although i am sure they check the online Coast regularly.
wear a Walkman or an IPod and walk down the street like you own it, looking straight ahead…works for me, but I only go downtown when ABSOLUTELY necessary…I’m not willing to give away the quid I work hard for, either! Fuck that!
Hey, Vicki, that’s the way I operate. Walking down Barrington is a breeze when you’re listening to Ozzy while the bums wave their cups and mouth their bullshit sob story of the day.
yeah, TTFN, it’s the only way to go, really…it’s a nicer day when you can’t hear the fuckers’ bullshit…got an “extra” smoke? spare some change? I’d rather be listening to Dr. Dre…on my way to my decently waged job 😉
