To the two girls in the rap group making everyone at the bar cringe last weekend. I know you’re an upper-class, university student scenester. I know that when you wear trucker hats, you’re wearing it “differently” from real truckers, and I know that when you get on stage, you’re rapping “ironically.” so it’s not supposed to be good; it’s counter-cultural, and it’s oh-so clever. I get it. It’s very funny for a second or two, but you know what’s NOT so funny? paying cover to get into a bar and watching two people with no talent make fools of themselves on stage, while a few of their uber-pretentious friends cheer them on in order to demonstrate that they’re ‘in’ on the joke.
Although you may not be into hit, hip-hop is a real art form, and there are people who are good at it, and people who suck. You suck, and you’re not “so bad that you’re good”… you’re just bad.

I’m not sure if you are talking about who i think you are, but a friend of a friend of mine did that once while we were all out as a group and I was so embarassed. she went up with her other blonde hoe friend and tried to beatbox and rap because they think they’re ghetto driving daddy’s Benz, and then they bounced off the stage amid the laughter, and totally misinterpreted it as the audience laughing at their hilariousness (not a word, i know). I told them they looked like idiots but they were like “omG guys!!!!!!!! we were so good up there, we should SO TOTALLY do that again” if they picked it up as a regular thing, i am sorry Stop, I am sorry I didn’t end it when I had the chance
you do know that many artists have to have a place to start? you know that even the best cats in the game now couldnt rap on a wood door let alone into a mike. Ease up on the harshness and using the “Art of hip hop” as the premise of your rant. First off, art is subjective, one man’s s**t is another man’s scuplture. Second, the art of hip hop has no boundaries, and a true fan of the art would know this.
