It is “AY-CH”. Not “HAY-CH”…. even on Sesame Street they teach that… “Today’s episode was brought to you by the letter “AY-CH”. AKA “H”.
In Newfoundland, it’s haitch which is heard at the start of all words starting with vowels and is omitted from words actually spelled with “h”aitch. e.g. ‘e was ‘appy to (h)enjoy ‘is (h)apples and (h)eggs and (h)after went shootin’ wit’ ‘is (h)uzi.
This is pretty much standard Newfoundland english as found in the Dictionary of Newfoundland English.
