Know what ticks me off, Halifax? People who don’t pronounce “Isleville” correctly, that nice long street in the North End. Get it right, dammit! —Share the love

  1. When I lived on Isleville it used to irk me to no end when people would pronounce it “eyes-ville”. Fucking derps.

  2. so what is it? i’ll-ville ?

sometimes the ‘correct’ pronunciation of something used as a word is not the correct pronunciation of the word used as a name.

eg. portage avenue in Winnipeg. the proper way to pronounce portage is the French way, ‘to portage the canoes’ port-TAJ……but in Winnipeg, the street name is pronounced PORT-ahg

  3. As it’s past where Gottingen turns into Novalea, that means that the swarmers are a tad more polite and the knife they shank you with is at least cleaned off after the last stabbing.

  4. You, OP, would be irate using my gps…
It’s a Navgon and pronounces every street with a german accent.
    True story.

  5. oh gawd zzz………………how do you stand it?

    Vee WILL turn leftttt here!
Dumkoff! Vee now haff to recalculate!

all I can hear is sgt schultz

  6. It’s all fun and games until someone winds up “accidentally” annexing the Sudetenland.
