This city needs more garbages. Sometimes I walk 10 minutes without coming across one. No wonder people just toss their empty cups and wrappers all over the street. Obviously people in this city would be too careless to actually seek out a garbage or recycling bin, apparently that’s just too much work. I feel obligated to pick up plastic bottles and cartons when I see them but sometimes I have to hang onto it for a good while until I can finally dispose of it. Tourists must think this city is just atrocious considering how disgusting the sidewalks and even grassy areas are. Please take care of this city and our environment, it deserves it. —Pick Up Your Filth

  1. I agree, more trash cans are needed. People can’t be expected to haul their shit around with them all GD day. I do but to expect the general public to..

  2. Very valid bitch. I always find garbage cans hard to locate and end up carrying trash for some time. I would venture to guess that it has to do with money and the cost of emptying many receptacles.

  3. do you mean garbage cans o.p., they are scattered willy nilly, and it takes someone time to empty them. and most folks are bitching that the city is spending to much on this and that. a later post here tells of a chick taking down posters off lampposts, well there you have it. maybe she also does the cans that are on some of them?
but really, if you are so offended by the lack of, or the emptying of, why the fuck complain here? just because kelly might or ight not read this blog, don’t matter. call the fucking city manager or someone at city hall, and whine about this to them. we can’t fucking help you, and if i could, i fucking wouldn’t.

  4. Radical environmentalists are against pedestrian garbage cans – even the ones that sort the trash. Seriously, read some of their literature. Not having trash cans is supposed to “foster awareness regarding excess packaging and the amount of personal waste the user generates”.

  5. IF there are no facilities in place for the public to put their trash. There IMO shouldn’t be any penalties for someone just throwing trash on the ground.

  6. Radical environmentalists are like health nuts. Even if they overreach they are still doing the person and the world some good.

  7. I concur OP. Some cities 3-4 times the size of Halifax are as pristine as a wildlife reserve in comparison. It’s sad that so many people here don’t seem to mind shitting all over the environment where they live.

More: Wow. I sure hope you’re trolling, ’cause that’s a pretty dumb statement.

  8. You went to university, obviously. Too bad they failed to teach you – or did you FAIL TO LEARN?

Garbages. Really?! Is that like prescriptions and tempachures (pronounced as they are spelled here)?

You fuckwads with poor english grammer and tens of thousands in student loans got ripped off!

  9. having spent a recent chunk of time in asia.. no. This city is not atrocious. It’s the cleanest place with the least garbage that smells absolutely amazing and not at all like burning refuse, smelly tofu and 15 year old piles of human feces.

But op.. know what’s interesting? In the last few years the littering fines have increased dramatically. I noticed at or around that time, public bins started vanishing. -_-
