I realize that gambling for some people is a terrible addiction. However, I am getting sick and tired of hearing all this bitching about a certain comercial, showing athletic programs, sponsored by a certain government run organization. It would be different if it were advertising gambling with minors in it, but it’s not, it’s just letting people know where some of the damn money is going. Also while I’m on it, a certain anti-gambling organization is bitching and whining about these comercials, while they sit with their thumbs up thier asses, munching down the fries and shakes while peeling back the chance to win tabs. You never hear them complaining about that or trying to get them to stop it. Even though they directly advertise to children. Then there is a certain sandwich shop that has gaming pieces, from a game that is played by children and young adults, as if that’s not gearing them towards gambling. Oh, did I mention that kids under 19 are allowed to purchase these items and redeem the prizes, even though you must be over 19 to claim any prizes from the government program. So were the fuck is this anti-gambling group now (peeling tabs at the local hamburger shop).

And then they fucken bitch about a certain comercial, that shows were some of the revenue is going, that encourages an active lifestyle and trying to get young people motivated. They would rather sit there and bitch and watch our rapidly growing obesity problem. Obviously, their message is getting thru loud and clear. YOU can be as fat and lazy as you want as long as you don’t gamble. nice fucking message

  1. As much as people get in hardcore bitches about smokers, drinkers, and gamblers – if tomorrow someone magically made it all go away you can bet they’d be the first to bitch when they found their income/property/sales taxes inflated to compensate for it.

  2. if there was nothing to bitch about, someone would bitch about that too. go fucking figure humans out.

  3. I haven’t seen the commercial but as long as the gaming corporation isn’t advertising on the team uniforms or in any way promoting gambling to children, I don’t see an issue with it. However, if the corporation is asking for advertising space on the uniforms or in rinks and playing fields in return for their sponsorship, it is clearly inappropriate.

  4. You can’t be that stupid to believe free game pieces with meals is anything like gambling…………can you?

  5. that would imply people are going in and buying burgers/shakes/etc… JUST for the pieces and discarding the food. I don’t think that’s quite what’s going on….

    stooooooopid.

  6. What’s next…….government run whore houses with 96% of the profits going to pay for nursing homes….

  7. Smee & zZz, you’re right in theory… but then I think of my brother. Every spring he starts buying Tim Horton’s coffee in excess and I don’t think the advent of Roll Up the Rim is a mere coincidence. Sure, dropping $5 on coffee every day isn’t the same as cramming twenties into a VLT but both behaviours come from the same place…

  8. jennier, I must admit it was the rollup the rim that started me on the cursed java…
so I do catch your meaning.

I’m not sure it’s more gambling than a marketing scheme though… and at least with the coffee/burgers you always get SOMETHING out of it. VLT’s are just retarded as far as I’m concerned. slots are where the casino’s make their money… doi.
