“Fuck You” tobacco lobby and the government jackass you rode in on. You need new victims and you know compulsory health labeling will discourage kids from smoking so you lobby those fucktards in Ottawa who have already spent millions of dollars of our taxes on new health labeling with the result that the new labeling program is tossed out the window. Fuck that was easy! Who runs this fucking country anyway? Fuck You tobacco lobby and Fuck You government fucktards for all the hard work you do to keep the world safe for fucking poison peddlers!!! I hope your kids all become crack whores so you know what it feels like to lose something precious to fucking poison!!! —I’ve Fucking Had It Up to Here!!!

I just passed Day 100 as a new non-smoker. Tough habit to break, let me tell you.
All due respect and empathy to anybody who has lost a loved one to smoking related causes but the simple facts are:
The “Tobacco Lobby” didn’t force their lips open and jam in a filtered, rich, smooth, menthol-infused nicotine delivery system.
The “Tobacco Lobby” weren’t standing next to them with a Zippo and novelty Sir Walter Raleigh”Greetings from Virginia” ashtray.
The “Tobacco Lobby” didn’t frog march them at gunpoint into the nearest Quickymart once a day to buy a pack or two.
If there is anyone alive in the western hemishpere today who doesn’t realize the hazards of smoking, it is because they just don’t care and no amount of autopsied lung pictures and big black letters of doom are going to change their minds.
And as for those who expect the government to protect us mindless children from ourselves – a big Fuck You! because , quite frankly, I’d trust lobbyists more. And that is damning with faint praise indeed.
that’s not the Mr Bean I was expecting there ivan….
Stay Sharpe, Zed-man *troz*
What gets me is how the government makes it look like we sell the smokes to ourselves. Don’t get me wrong, people choose to smoke, but I say either stop fuckin sellin cigarettes or stop bustin smokers’ balls.
Congrats to the pre-2011 quitters 🙂
I’ve lost someone from smoking related causes and I hold no grudge against the tobacco industry.
they can make all the laws in the world, against smoking, but people will still do it. all the people who support stupid bills and such, ought to just keep their noses out of other peoples business. but we all know that just will never happen, right?
And that is Big Tobacco’s fault why? It’s the scumbag pol’s that need to be forced to admit they suck shit and will whore themselves to cause if the PRICE IS RIIIGHT!
“Them that don’t know, don’t know that they don’t know.”
Countless fortunes are built upon this simple truth.
Don’t forget about Hollywood, it’s the biggest tobacco whore there is.
If it weren’t for the busybodys forcing the government to regulate all aspects of tobacco, elementary school kids would still be smoking, and doctors would be endorsing it.
Congrats FotH, keep up the good fight.

Hugo! – where have you been the last few days? We’ve missed you.
Ivan, finding new living accommodations, and quitting my job 🙂 made for a busy few days.
Wow – 2 big changes at an already high stress time of year. Hope you are reasonably well situated, at least for the short term.
Give joints to kids instead.
Fuck you OB. Tobacco is a legal substance just like alcohol. And as previously stated, the dangers are well known. Why not the outcry against alcohol and the damages and broken homes it causes. It is called choice. No one is forced to smoke, drink, or take drugs. Lets make the lobbying of anything dangerous illegal. Fuck grow up.
This is a mutual understanding between smokers and government, one addicted to tobacco and the other to tobacco taxes
Don’t blame the tobbaco industry???? What planet were you born on?? In the poorest villages in africa they are now hosting parties and doling out free packs at the gates to impovrished, non=smoking kids in order to recruit new smokers.
[citation needed]
z that’s because Africans are rich and will spend their $2.00/day wage on them. Get real.
you think they’re rich?
I know this nigerian prince who’s got bucket loads of cash just waiting to be taken off his hands.
Bro Tim,
Tobacco is legal and so is alcohol and both are regulated by the government.
I think what the op is bothered by is the fact that government regulation in the case of tobacco appears to be managed by the industry being regulated – ie. Big Tobacco.
This state of affairs isn’t unique to the regulation of tobacco. It exists as well with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency which is supposed to keep harmful food products off the shelves and with Health Canada which, among other things, is supposed to keep harmful drugs off the market and which attempts to promote the general good health of Canadians with things like the Canada Food Guide. Both of these government agencies are the targets of heavy industry lobbying. Almost twenty years ago, and in response to a drop in meat consumption by health conscious Canadians, the beef industry successfully lobbied the federal government to rejig the Canada Food Guide to promote the consumption of more beef. Your tax dollars at work.
Commandante, I feel there is a huuuuge hypocrisy with the Feds- on one hand they regulate caffeinated drinks like Red Bull cuz 5 people died, and they continue to allow cigarettes in stores. The obvious financial windfall this provides makes it that much more heinous.
Guyute,
I agree, there is a lot of hypocrisy around these issues.
Currently, marijuana is illegal, but the arguments against legalizing marijuana (health risk and societal costs) can be more aptly applied to both alcohol and tobacco.
Tobacco is highly addictive drug and for a large percentage of addicts it is lethal. I’d like to think that if it were a new product being put forward for approval it would be banned but given the state of industry control of the regulatory process and government’s own addiction to tax revenues from any source I’m not so sure this would happen.
No bro tim, you get real.
Wow. What a comeback. /sarcasm

Hahahahaha thanks, PG. Nerd humour rawks. 🙂
Bro Tim,
It is a well-documented fact that as tobacco companies have lost market share and profits in developed countries they have expanded into developing countries with aggressive marketing campaigns aimed at women and children and aggressive lobbying campaigns directed at cash-strapped third world governments operating with the aim of less regulation of tobacco sales.
This is a tobacco industry business strategy (not a conspiracy theory) that is successfully replacing their ‘dying’ market in the developed nations of Europe and North America.
Get ’em before they know any better, get ’em while they’re young, get ’em hooked and you guarantee a ‘lifetime’ of profits. Like lions eating gazelles, it’s just corporations doing the only thing they know how to do – maximizing shareholder value.
Do you enjoy the fact that the tobacco lobby has more influence in Ottawa than you do? Are you a shareholder?
And fuck the Water Department for giving us water. And fuck Subway for pretending they’re “artists”.
