You’ve affected three people on one little branch of my god damn family tree, and because one of them is my dad now I’m going to worry that I’ll be a fourth. Or worse, my little sister with two littles of her own.
Fuck off. —Multiple Headaches
This article appears in Feb 9-15, 2012.

Watching a loved one’s life consumed by a degenerative illness has to be one of the worst ordeals a person can go through. So sorry, OP. I wish you and your family all the best.
I’m afraid I don’t know much about MS, OB. I didn’t realize it was hereditary. Is there some way of early detection? Like, can they determine whether or not your are a carrier of such a gene/trait? Or is it more, you don’t know until you start developing symptoms?
And I second Ivan’s sentiments whole heartedly.
MS is a fucker, OB. I don’t have any words to make anything “better”, but I wish the best fpr you and your loved ones.

My bitch. Thanks kids, appreciated. Usually I’m ok with dad’s (as ok as you can be) MS, but got word yesterday that a relative my kid sister’s age was just diagnosed. Big punch to the ovaries, there.
Avast- “they” don’t really know if it’s hereditary, but can tell you that it’s more likely you’ll get it if it’s in the immediate fam. As far as getting tested…meh. I don’t know if there’s a test to determine if you’re a carrier/ potential sufferer, but in my opinion, if you’re gonna get it, you’re gonna get it. Knowing it’s coming isn’t going to make it suck less, and it’s certainly not going to help the insurance situation should it come up. My sis and I take the recommended measures to help avoid it, in any case.
Anytime Cannatell. Like Wheelie said, “no words to make anything better”. I hope you and your sister/nieces dodge the genetic bullet.
A close friend of mine who I knew for 40 years passed away from complications with MS which he battled for years, never complained no matter how much it hurt, kept working from home etc. It is horrible to watch someone go through this let alone some one you love
i have ms and ya it sucks. i’m 49 now but one thing i would do if I had known when I was young is to take vit D. Also, smoke, eat brownies. Take care
for a minute there, i thought you meant microsoft. but then again, having multible headaches is something that microsoft can give you. but the real m.s. is a fucking crippler too, i know a lot of people that have it, and they are really fucked up sometimes.
Not much more can be said than your title OP.
Sorry to hear you are dealing with this disease.
They haven’t been able to fully link this with being a hereditary disease but in my family we believe it is.
My father had MS & there are 2 others as well. So far 3 diagnosed in that generation. If it is not hereditary the only other thing it could be is environmental to the area they grew up. NS does have a large MS population compared to the rest of the country and they don’t know why.
