Im so sick of the CRTC stifling competition and innovation in this country. After years of getting rapped by Rogers and Bell the announcement that Skype was finally going mobile brought the potential of finally bypassing these grossly expensive networks. But no!! Canada is the ONLY country in the fucking world where Skype mobile wont be available!! Its like were living in the stone-age with these telecommunication companies and the worst part is there is no end in sight. So thanks a fucking lot CRTC, for continuing to squash consumer choice!

Agreed, it’s bullshit. Skype would be the next logical next step in the evolution of telecommunication. I don’t know for sure, but I would guess that government is in bed with the other companies in one way or another. When progress is brought to halt, it is usually a political thing. I could be wrong though.
Im going to find out where to make a complaint. Not that it will matter but it is all I can do.
Also our cell phone data rates are some of the highest in the world.
Oh God I hate the fucking CRTC, especially on Superbowl Sunday when the fuckin Canadian channels hijack the American ones so i have to watch 50 Portland St Honda commercials instead of the good ones. Luckily I’ve been able to bypass this by using West Coast feeds and HD but this year the only feed that wasn’t hijacked was the West Coast HD feed so they’re catching on to that.
There’s a special place in Hell reserved for these scum suckers.
I HATEEEEEEEE it when they hijack the ads. They do it every time a show is run concurrently on american and canadian stations. The superbowl is just the icing on the shit cupcake.
More and more the CRTC is looking like “big brother” (I hate how people use that term, but really, no other one in this instance).

You should be happy for the service you DO have in Canada- as in free local calls anytime on your landline and lots more competitition between mobile companies. I miss that. What about telus? Live in the Uk or Ireland, and then you REALLY get raped on BOTH landline and mobile services. I can’t even call down the street on my LANDLINE without paying something like 20 goddamned cents per minute- and even more if I’m calling a cellphone. I wont even start on the ridiculous, theiving rates here and am stunned people actually put up with this garbage. Forget leisurely phone conversations! Anyway, I’ll end it here cuz I know “Halifax…Love the Way We Bitch” isn’t referring to Halifax, West Yorkshire. Grrrr.ww&^%%%$$$TY%&#%!!!
How are the texting rates in the UK? I hear the Brits are text addicts? Maybe the high cost of conversations is why.
