I hate my learning disability! ADHD. I may even have bipolar once I go to my shrink tomorrow. I went for a job interview that I really wanted and fucking failed the tech part of the skill testing. I couldn’t get the job that I wanted. Tech support. I’m pissed off with myself, my learning disability the whole nine yards. Fucking sucks. —ADHD sucks shit

  1. Seeing the list of people with ADHD and the things they have accomplished shows me that perhaps it’s not a disorder but simply a way of thinking that’s different than many others.

In our schools and jobs not designed for this mode of thinking it would of course seem to be a disorder, but find your own way of life and I am sure you will find that you wouldn’t ever wish it away.

Your mind is as much a part of you as a leg or an arm. Wish it away and you’ll realize how much a part of you it really is.

  2. Seek accommodations for skill tests and such, a potential employer should have no problem with this. Did you disclose your learning disability in the interview or even in the cover letter? Good (disability-related) agencies around town can also help with disclosure/interview tips too. You can get the job you want!
Also, I found this sight funny (check out Rick Green’s videos!) and educational: totallyadd DOT com

  3. be glad that’ all you have, you could be completely fucked up. you could have aids, crohms, or any number of the nasty shit that is floating around these days.
big deal if your attention is a little off, there are people that can’t even read, speak or shit for themselves. put your pity their way, not to your own self.
tryi being in their shoes for a change, if they actually have feet.

  4. Isn’t there assistance for people with such problems to find meaningful employment? Or educating assistance? Or do they all end up working in call centres?

  5. Is it just me, or is the “tard” slowly seeping back into the Sebastard?

I knew it was too good to be true.

  6. @sebastian that is like saying anyone who can’t find employment joins the armed forces. not everyone who works at a call center has adhd or a disability. They work there because they need a job and its better than social assistance.

  7. “Funny how nobody in Argentina has ADHD. Or Egypt. Or Singapore.”

Might be funny, if it weren’t completely false. A quick google of “ADHD + Argentina/Egypt/Singapore” blows that theory all to hell.

  8. Are you taking meds for it OP? I have ADHD as well, it wasn’t until last year (I’m 26 now) that I managed to learn how to deal with it. I’m on Dexedrine SR, 15 mg, once a day.

And Yorkke, I frequent a forum for adults with ADD, and we are everywhere, including Singapore and Argentina. Psychiatric help is very limited in these places however. Try using your brain a bit.

  9. Also, I’ve been on meds since I was 19, with slow improvement, but they weren’t the answer. I also had to work on trying to stay focused. When I switched from regular dosage to Slow Release, that did make a huge difference. The best thing is to try conquering the small goals first, for me my life was a series of failures, I needed to turn it into a series of successes. First was learning to draw accurately, eventually it was getting an A+ in my grade 12 uni-level math and learning that I was actually really good at something I thought was terrible at all my life. Now I’m an A student majoring in Accounting. I used to think I must be mentally challenged when I was 12. You can totally turn it around OP. Good luck.
