10 points! Minus ten points off my essay because it was LATE? BAH! Twas not late! I take a mission trip ‘vacation’ if that’s what you want to call it, and have no time to work on it. Everyone else got a week. I came back, asked for an extention, was granted a ‘yes’, and passed in said essay a week later, mind you, I had four other projects to do as well. Minus 10 points? Now that okay B- is down to a not okay C-. Gosh darn, why not just throw in the towel and call it quits already.

If I were your professor/teacher I wouldn’t have given you an extension. You chose to go on your ‘mission trip’, thereby choosing to miss any papers, etc. You should be thankful that you have a lenient prof and were allowed to do the paper at all. At least now you have a C- instead of an F. Quit whining about something that is 100% your own fault.
Ouch, I guess so.
You used the word “Twas” in 2009. You get a D. You better just drop the class before its too late and it affects your GPA. Take it again this summer. Please also refrain from using words llike “ye”, “olde”, or “thee”.
hopefully this lowly C- wont keep you off the deans list…or be noted on your degree
Hate to say it, Dino, but you did bring this on yourself. Before your “mission” you should have met with your prof and gotten things in writing before venturing off.
A professor or university is not responsible nor cares about what you do outside of class and will not give you cookie points just because you are you.
The mark could have easily been avoided if you took better precautions, however, bitching about your own mishap doesn’t raise your grade or make the world want to pat you on the back.
Best of luck with the next paper/exam and course. I didn’t want ot leave you on a sour note; English is a bore but I still would like to wish you the best in your academics!
Thanks, NGF!
Did he state that you would not be docked for the extention. That is a normal practice.
Ask God to help.
did you consider completing the paper before you went?
or was it assigned too close to your departure time?
I remember skipping a week in 3rd year and basically had to get all my papers and assignments done the week before and handed in so I didn’t lose marks. As with every trip, it’s good to take the necessary precautions.
It was assigned the day before I left, my hands were kind of tied. I see all yo points though. Good room for improvement next time…i guess…
Welcome to the real world Dino. Embrace this as a very inexpensive life lesson.
do you mean a religious mission trip?
No. I went to Honduras to help poor children without toothbrushes. At least I’m going to heaven when I’m dead…
Dino… I’m sure you were assigned a syllabus.
You must have had some inclination that there was a paper due and though you weren’t privy to the subject matter it would contain. Did you speak with any profs a week (or more) before you left? They usually notice when someone isn’t around for 2-3 classes consecutively.
Not trying to be overbearing or a parent here….
but they won’t know unless you tell them and the earlier you do, the better it looks on you.
Hahaha
Being held accountable for your own poor time management is a bitch, isn’t it?
I don’t think that’s a legitimate excuse for a late paper. Sickness, unforeseen emergency, yes. Mission Trip? Hell no! You had time, you could have handed it in early or sent it to a friend to print off and hand in. We all have deadlines for papers, going off somewhere to think about Jesus for a week doesn’t get you a free pass for late work. Suck it up and take responsibility for your poor time management.
WWJD? Probably hand in the paper on time.
