Seriously! On Lacewood, and the Bedford Highway, the busses come in clumps.. all the time!! Within 5 minutes the 17, 42, and 52 go by.. I could any one of these to where I’m going, but if I’m 2 minutes late I’ll have to wait about 20 minutes for the next clump!!! wtf!!

What’s the point of having so many routes, that all arrive at nearly the same time.. it can’t be that hard to schedule it.

-I just want to go to school 🙁

PS. the route 4 in this city is seriously fucked up, it takes forever to get anywhere.

  1. I agree.

I’ve complained about this many, many times, as I have the same issue with getting from downtown Halifax to the Bridge Terminal, except that SIX buses come at once every half hour, rather than one every five minutes.

The reason: Metro Transit uses what I refer to as “California scheduling” (they’re not alone– these scheduling techniques are taught at bus scheduling school [really!] in Ontario).

The logic goes like this: we’re making it easy for people to catch their transfers at the terminals, so we’ll make every bus land at the terminal at the same time. This makes perfect sense IF most of your riders live in the suburbs, past the terminals, AND (the California part) it’s no big deal having them wait on the side of the road for the first bus— they can soak in the warm sunshine, watch the scantily-clad girls go by, enjoy the day.

Unfortunately, none of that is our reality. Most riders are riding within the terminals, and waiting on the side of the road often means standing in an ice storm, or in a two-foot snowbank, or a typhoon. It’d make far more sense to have the buses come more frequently, so at least they can scoop the people off the exposed bus stops and bring them to a terminal with a covered roof.

I’ve explained this a 1,000 times, but does anyone listen to me? Noooooooo.

  2. I’m listening Tim…
unfortunately there butt fuck all I can do about it. you’d be better to pester PDG to voice it or ask where to go to put a change on the table.

I still can’t figure out most of the bus system here anyways… I only know like 3 routes and they’re likely the most crowded and over-utilized of them all.

  3. Pestering PDG will do absolutely no good. Scheduling is done by a separate group of morons all together with. BTW, not to insinuate that the drivers are morons, cos for the most part they’re great

  4. “making it easy for people to catch their transfers at the terminals”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Sure, that may be good if our buses ran ON TIME… oi…

  5. cry me a gooddamn river. 20 minutes? 3 buses? i live out s bit, i miss a bus its another 59 minutes…. YOU SUCK!!!

  6. I don’t miss metro’s bus’ !!!!!! Although i lived in woodlawn close to portland and getting anywhere wasn’t a bad thing – atleast they came in 3-4 minutes apart from eachother .Glad I have a car now for when i come back . Its worth the 5000 klick trip to not have to take a bus back home . Them where the days and still fucked up as usual !!

  7. The same thing happens on Sundays at Lacewood. Thankfully, the 52 is on a 30 minute schedule now on Sunday which is niiiiice.

I agree about the 4 too, especially when it leaves lacewood and makes the loop through radcliffe/dunbrack/etc…I mean wtf is up with that loop around ross street? NO ONE ever gets on or off there! It takes FOREVER to get to parkland from lacewood on that effing bus, and on Sunday it’s your only option if you live far into Parkland.

  8. “Well I’m going out west where I belong,
Where the days are short and the nights are long.

And I’ll walk, a little walk.
    I’ll twist, a little twist.
    I’ll shimmy, a little shimmy.
    I’ll fly, a little fly.
Yea we’re out there having fun,
    in the warm California sun…

Well, I’m going out west out on the coast,
Where the California girls are really the most…”

The Coast needs some sort of “Holiday in the sun” competition. Maybe top Bitcher of 2010 wins a free all-inclusive two week vacation to Cuba?

Ohh, and the busses, yeah, the scheduling sucks. I’d prefer it to be staggered.

  9. what the hell else you expect.teleportation.fuck man, beam me up snotty, there tain’t no telligant liffe hear, doh.
