Well I figure I will finally post my bitch! What the fuck is up with all the freakin litter? I noticed it a long time ago, but it really comes into perspective when the “roll up the rim” is on the go. Just take a look around and see how many Red TH cups you see. I drive 5 Km on the highway to work and I counted close to 80 freakin cups!!! I’m no tree hugger but for Fuck sakes throw your shit in the trash. In addition, I have a perfect idea for all those able bodied persons who collect welfare! Why don’t you earn your check and get out and pick up some litter!!!!

I really noticed this litter problem after moving back to NS from out west 10 years ago… WTF is with people here? No respect for themselves or anyone else, maybe…
SAY something if you see littering in progress, or, just quietly walk over to where somebody just dropped something, especially those goddamn TH cups or one of those fucking ciggy butts that never goes away, pick it up right away, and drop it in the nearest trash receptacle.
Shame works so much better than anger to make people think about the repercussions of their actions. Embarrass the fuck out of them…

AND, why on earth are these paper cups not more biodegradable? They are PAPER for goodness sakes! Also, if they were all brown, we wouldn’t see them so much, do you think that maybe they’re trying to remind people that they need to get their fix?… Boycott Timmies, they suck.
actually in some areas or nova scotia timiies cups are composatable BSB. the tims cup is actually made of up two layers of paper with a thin layer of plastic between them.
some waste management boards in NS allow a certain percentage of plastic in their compost whereas others do not. i cant remember which ones allow it at the moment…but im sure if you contacted the appropriate authorites they could tell you.

I like what they do in London, UK – there are constant patrols of street cleaners, guys on the sidewalk with their little carts cleaning up all the shit on the ground – London is a surprisingly clean city as a result which is a pretty major accomplishment among 7 million people. Maybe some of those able-bodied welfare bums or street bums could earn their goddamn keep instead of sucking on the public tit.
I meant biodegradable as in it just rots and goes away, not that anyone should waste fuel to take it to a government sanctioned composting site…
I agree w/ TTFN, recruit the bums… It could be a daily job, no address required, they could get paid after every shift… And the same person would show up every day because there’d be plenty others ready to take their place… Definitely makes too much sense for our government tho, not enough administrative bullshit! I know that there are people out there who would really like to have a job like that too, it could work…

didn’t store owners try to get the bums to clean in front of their stores (for pay) last month but it did not go over well.
if your on welfare, married or single, healthy and have kids in daycare and/or school then maybe so many hours of giving back to the community a month would be a good idea.
what about some of our “misunderstood” youths doing their community service along side the road?

put welfare recipients to work picking up trash… sure sounds like a perfect world but what do you do when the welfare recipients tells you to fuck your hand? Welfare is NOT employment (money in exchange for work). You can’t force anybody to work but you sure can inspire them. Either way, money to pay for such a program would still come out of public coffers. I say make TH charge a nominal deposit for their cups… give the panhandlers and, yes, welfare recipients, something useful to do with their day. They do it for refundable pop bottles and cans… you don’t see them littering our streets.
