So two months ago I go and ask my boss for a raise. He brushes me off and pats me on the head, says he will take care of it. There have been other people in the company that have gotten raises we’re but here two months later and not one word about it.

So, I am looking for another job. And I will give myself a raise in the process. AND I think I just landed a new job! —Tired over being used as a doormat

  1. Ugh this type of management bugs me.

When I was hired at a place that is “super” a few years back as a student they told me I’d make more than min because I have experience.

Low and behold, my first cheque was paid at min. And lately I’ve had to correct a certain situation where I set a min rate, and I was paid less than that.

Skeezy employers deserve to be shot with a ball of their own shit.

  2. “Starting October 1, 2010, the Minimum Wage Rate will be $9.65 per hour. Employers may pay $9.15 for inexperienced employees.”

Brought to you by the government of NS.

  3. That’s bullshit that they can pay below minimum wage for inexperienced employees… isn’t the point that it’s the MINIMUM amount you can pay?? I’m so glad I’m on salary now…

  4. some businesses can’t afford the glorious raises that some fools want, why, because they are going in the hole, thanks to higher taxes and operating costs. put yourself in the boss man’s spot. or how about your job performance, is it that good that you deservee even a modest pay hike. i think you feel that you are a special personn, if you are, then quit, get another job, and whine someplace else. we are busy here with more important bitches. like the one above, about spare smokes.

  5. Congrats on the new job. I’ve been lucky and have received a raise every year (last year was 9% … like holy shit that’s incredible) in addition to my bonus. Never work for companies that don’t give annual raise/bonuses!
