You were let down so very badly by one of your own. But you do not need to distance yourself from him in our minds. He did that, when he abandoned all human decency in his conduct. Your honour is unsullied, your professionalism unquestioned and your service appreciated. Thank you, all. —Proud Army Brat

  1. As a retired member, thank you but I (and no doubt all the rest retired and serving member) have shunned him. In this case one rotten (I will refrain from going on my description) WILL NOT spoil the barrel.

  2. Right on BT! Right on OP! I don’t even really think about Williams being a member of the forces. I think of him as a sick human being. That’s it. I appreciate what the folks in the forces have to do on a daily basis. Love ya boys and girls… and thanks!

  3. i concur rosie, when i picture him all i see is a sick killer. the uniform never enters my mind

  4. Thanks guys. I have to admit, that there has not been much anti-military bigotry inspired by this, but I still remember the pathological hatred of the 90’s. Even though my dad was out by then; it still hurt. I used to play NTN trivia at the ‘stache and I forget how much money I spent, sending pitchers to tables of young blokes with short hair. And yes, SOBova was with me. *Snort*
    >; ) Waiter – Asscones for everyone!

  5. the military makes up a large portion of our most beloved customers. watching corrie st. then maybe the fifth estate. i must admit i have always been fascinated with the human mind and it’s capacity for evil. too much research and reading^^

  6. SOBova’s the resident expert on serial killers and I’m the in-house pedant on Nazi Germany.
Aren’t we just a bundle o’ larfs. *SNORT*

  7. When “The Anti-Christ of Hip” lets (what’s left of) his hair down – anything can happen.
    Hey Scooshy-face Monty – -Woof Woof. >; )

  8. The memo we received Friday offered a bit of relief…stripped of his rank, stripped of his commission, stripped of his medals and decorations, any salary he received since he was arrested will be recovered and returned to the Crown, and he was released under the item “service misconduct” which is the most severe possible. I’m with BT here: To me, this man was never one of us.

Thanks for the “Love” Ivan, much appreciated.

  9. Back at you and then some Frenchie. And You and Tim are absolutely correct. He never was one of you.

  10. HEY, that’s my job! >; ) Merci, Painey von Book-Radar. It will be interesting to see his take on the subject of child soldiers. Not exactly sure where I stand, especially re: little Mr. Khadr. I need to learn more.
Me Old Dad likes to joke, that he too was a child soldier. Joined at 16 in the 50s under the Soldier Apprentice Plan – Little Green Monsters they were called.
When he took his paratroop training at 18, one of his NCOs was Tommy Prince.

  11. Neat!

My Da lied about his age in WWII… before ‘anything could happen’ the war ended– My Da used to joke that Hitler knew he was coming and got scared! (never mind the whole other part of the war…. WHOOOPS! Don’t mention the war!)

  12. My father in law was an Air Cadet in WW 2. He went to PEI for a training camp for a month so he liked to joke that he did, in fact, make it overseas in the war. RAWK!

  13. the bear read “shake hands with the devil” excellent read. you will always be the king in our little literary circle admiral…screee
