On the other hand, if pedestrians just watched where they were going they wouldn’t have to wear different colours so you wouldn’t hit them.

Your required to wear black at work…so am I , at least I am for show calls. That doesn’t mean I can’t wear my helli Hanson winter coat with its high visible strip when I’m out on the Streets (just kidding-sidewalks) . D’OH!!!!!
I second OP’s opinion. If you’ve gotta wear black, then at least pay attention to your surroundings. And use the crosswalk so I (also in the driving industry) at least expect to see someone.Noone needs a human hood ornament.
