Do we really need another old navy vessel rotting in our harbour? I thought that’s what the submarines were for.

  1. I’ve never figured out why the Navy, Army and Airforce hold onto scrapped assets even though they’ve removed all useful components early on.

The federal, provincial and municipal goverments all hold regular sealed bid auctions for surplus and scrap assets so why can’t these ships and subs be put out for bid by metal recyclers. Metro Transit is a good example, they pull good parts off scrap buses, then tow em up to Turner Drive where they sit with other scrap equipment until the bids go out. All within 6 months of it being pulled off the road in most cases.

  2. I wonder what would happen if I go and tie my old beater up to one of the public docks & just let er sit . Probable end up being charged for vehicle abandonment, enviormental damage if the oil or other fluids leaked out & have to pay for any and all damage perceived or otherwise if she sinks or just sits there rotting. Man it must be great being a part of Govenrment…do whatever you want, no repercussions & while in office your protected against any law breaking your policies may infringe on !

  3. At least the harbour is large enough that one can ignore another rustbucket. Whenever I was in Bridgewater, that ship stuck out like a sore thumb on that tiny river.
