It is time to stop spending money on these old historic dumps in Halifax.
Take the old barn the ” forum ” it was a barn 50 years ago and it still is, in fact the city ie our elected officals turned down an offer from national defense to help subsidize a four pad stadium in the old shannon park property.
Did they take up on an amazing offer, nope they will spend six million on the dump known as the forum

The four pad arena was proposed for Windsor Park, yes thats in Halifax, not Shannon Park.
A new arena no matter how you split the bill would be in excess of 40 million. How much were the Forum’s renovation costs? But you’re right on the resemblence to a barn.
But what will happen to the pigeons?
Where will the ghost of Killer Karl Krupp go then, if no forum?
Let’s see… $40,000,000 – $6,000,000 = $34,000,000 savings. That buys a lot of pot at the “pharmacy”…!

The Form is, admittedly, a dump, but like Nukka said: it’ll be a lot more expensive to build a new structure.
By the same token, look at the Bluenose II mess. The Tancook ferry is fucked and needs to be replaced (transport canada has put major limitations on its capacity), and who knows if they’ll get a replacement. But no, we need to fix up the FUBAR Bluenose II.

Yeah, it’s an old barn – but there are no structural issues with the Forum and the space has a shit-ton of ambiance and charm. $6 million to spruce it up is a bargain. There’s a lot of memories in that building.

The Assassin bounced great on the mat. If I remember correctly he was a school teacher. When I went to the matches with my brother, there was a little old lady there who always hit the heels with her purse. The wrestlers said she wasn’t a plant but I’m not too sure about that. One of the refs was a Ports Canada police officer.
And because of a few vocal minority the city has to hang on to the kyber too. These poison infested ‘historical’ properties are a waste of resource.
it makes me giggle to think of these whiners wanting to keep this asbestos infested ‘art’ centre for the sake of memory. I can appreciate art and the artist but i’ll never take my life in my own hands and step foot inside this building for the sake of… what? I don’t even know what!
Once again, HRM pacifies it’s community by rolling over and not rocking the boat and putting it’s hard earned resources in a bottomless pit of waste.

The old forum , lost its ‘fly’ status for live shows. So the loads for lighting & sound are ground supported.
The roof trusses are so bad, that reinforcements have been put it just to keep it up .
There are main roof trusses that are twisted, cracked gusset plates, busted/popped rivets .
Seeing as you have probably never been up there, how would you know. Engineers know more than I do, but I won’t even climb in that building anymore.
