Every week I go to our International Development class, only to hear you and your materialistic friends talk about how daddy cut your cell phone minutes because he had to pay for your parking ticket, or how the department store has a great deal on perfume.

Then when class starts you blow smoke up the professor’s ass, saying beautifully idealistic things while chugging Timmies coffee.

If only university was less expensive but required higher marks to get into…. wouldn’t completely cut out rich kids but should at least cut down on the less intelligant ones

BLOWING SMOKE: A METAPHOR FOR BITCHLAND?

There can be no doubt about it. Things are not going smoothly in International Development class. FS takes issue with a female student on the grounds of her hypocrisy claiming that, unlike him, she is a materialist and indifferent to the struggling masses of the developing countries. Instead what she does is just “blow smoke” up the professor’s ass. She just mouths “idealistic things” which the professor doesn’t recognize for what they are. Yes, things are not going smoothly in International Development class.
But, of course, in order to make his charges stick FS must reveal what those “idealistic things” are and just why the professor is unable to recognize them for what they are. But FS never does this. He has made the accusation and for FS, that is enough. Not only does he fail to reveal just what those “idealistic things” might be, he also fails to indicate just what he might recommend in their place. Quite literally, he has nothing to say.
FS concludes his empty rant with a resounding, “You’re so fucking ignorant that you fail to realize you’re part of the problem.” Case closed, or at least FS thinks so. On the contrary, however, it is FS himself who is so ignorant that he fails to realize that it is his stupidity which is not just part of the problem but the problem in its entirety. As with stupid people generally, he just assumes that his own unsupported opinion is identical to the truth, that there is no conceptual distance between them. He gives no reasons for his assertions. He views his opinions as free-standing truths. That is what it means to be stupid. But is that the end of the story? No, it isn’t.
The International Development class can be seen in many ways as a metaphor for this site, for Bitchland. It abounds with people like FS. They believe that their unsupported opinion is identical to the truth. A glance at the comments is sufficient to reveal who they are. It’s no mystery. To use FS’s eloquent phrasing, they are so fucking ignorant that they fail to realize that they are the problem. They lead with their mouths, not with their minds. The reason for that is simple. They have no minds.
Welcome aboard FS. You’ll have plenty of company in Bitchland.

People are allowed to drink Tim Horton’s coffee and enjoy their lives while they do what they can to help 3rd world countries as they become aware of the challenges those people face. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Also, I’d be more concerned with the people who spend millions on private jets and massive houses instead of spreading the wealth by opening schools in these areas. I don’t drive a car and drink lots of coffee+donate what I can when I can. You’re going after the wrong people OP.
