Who call the firepersons to bring the hose
To a backyard fire in the neighbourhood
Amidst the rich scent of smoke and wood
But, wait. This fire is completely legal!
Should this situation be left unpenal?
Perhaps city council should consider the fall
To be on the individuals who made the initial call

Why not just call it the Fire Department, or Fire Brigade and leave the whole “persons” suffix out. It sounds weird and does not flow well when speaking.

Some people think if they have temper tantrums enough times they will get their own way. Unfortunately, they will. Just look at some of the asinine laws and by-laws.
If memory serves me, there are burning bans of all kinds throughout the province at the moment because the risk of wildfires is high. This includes HRM. So, said neighbours likely made the right call in this instance.
