Yesterday (Sunday Nov 18) at around 1PM, my bus pass fell out of my purse while I was paying for my purchases at Walmart on Mumford Rd. In the approximately 30 seconds it took me to notice, someone had taken it. In fact, the person who picked it up and put it in their pocket was probaby still standing at the checkout when I came back looking for it. They probably heard me ask the cashier if someone had found it and turned it in. People are such bastards…
I guess it won’t kill me to walk for the rest of the month.

Nothing infuriates me more than fucking assholes taking what doesn’t belong to them. You can be sure if you stole from them, they’d probably cut your throat. It sickens me that you lost your mode of transporation because of some little pisser who thinks it’s all a big joke.
As long as they didn’t get any of your id and you signed the bus pass…it is useless to them or at least it should be. Supposed to show ID with them now…
Yeah right, like the bus drivers even glance to see if the two match…
This is true…I really haven’t seen them do it either…but they are supposed to. Metrotransit should help pay for the upkeep of these boards…there are alot of bitches about them…or maybe they could just go ahead and change their public image by firing all the drivers that don’t do as they are supposed to…sigh, that’s asking for too much isn’t it? dammit
I called MT today to check on this. Only student pass holders are required to show ID as a matter of course. For all other types of passes, drivers can request ID if they think it’s warranted, but pass holders are not expected to automatically show it with the pass. And given the number of times I’ve lost MY bus pass, I’m not about to stick my driver’s license in that little plastic wallet with it.
Montreal is switching to new magnetic swipe cards that will replace the current monthly and weekly passes which, like those in Halifax, can be used by anyone if lost or stolen. The new cards will be entered into a database and the dollar amount on it will be entered into that same information bank. If you lose it then you’d call the STM and they’d cancel that specific card right away and the fare boxes and turnstiles would reject it. Pay the $8 replacement fee and the balance is transfered onto the new card.
