To the irresponsible asshat that dinged my car: you made a grown man cry. Proud of yourself? Obviously not or you would have stuck around to apologize or at least leave a note (and 40 bucks to buff out the scratch). No, you took the chicken shit route and scurried away like the rat you are. A lot of people will think “lighten up,” but here’s the back story- after spending 7 months unemployed, losing my home and scrounging to save, I just got back on my feet, bought a decent car one friggen week ago, only to have some jerk fuck it up with that scrape on the rear drivers side fender where I’ll see it every time I approach the car! A curse on you- may the energy of the universe mar your spirit like you marred my paint job!

wow dont destroy this person simply cuz something they worked hard to get had been thoughtlessly damaged by someone else. Its obvious that the ding is just the last(most recent) in a long line of challenging events in this persons life. everyone here has had a moment like that, this person is just venting online as opposed to getting hammered or punching a wall or beating their wife etc.
life has its downs, and it has its ups…. there will be better days ahead. sadly the rest of the folks are right about getting used to the dents and dings. the whole pass side of my suv is covered in dings from thoughtless drivers throwing open their doors. It doesnt matter what you do to try and protect it, the inevitability is that this is the first of a long line of dings…….. dont let it eat you up inside and focus on the bigger more positive picture!!

So your car got dinged. It’s a fucking car, a thing – methinks you are channelling the stress you’ve faced into this minor incident – yeah, the guy ran off – no shit – but he hasn’t got a clue to what your mental condition is, he might have been too stoned to even notice he hit anything. Shit happens and if you’re going to cry over this minor hassle, I’d hate to see how you’d handle a real pitch to the gut. Like me old mudder (udder?) used to say, stop blubbering and buck up.

I never did understand the concept that a car is meant to be scratch free. imo, a car is meant to be driven and used. Of course, I don’t advocate abuse or vandalism, but when it comes time to drive my truck in the bush, or back it into a loading dock, I don’t blink an eye. If it gets scratched or dented…..who cares!

I think most of us have been in the same situation where we got dinged by some dipshit in a parking lot. I don’t think moving out of halifax is going to put an end to that…there are bad drivers everywere lol.
I know someone who witnessed a pretty bad hit and run in a parkade here, and he went over to the terrible driver and told him to stop smashing into a bunch of cars as they tried to maneuver out of their parking spot but they just smiled and sped off. So my friend called the police and they caught the fucker ;D. We aren’t all bad!

OP don’t sweat the small stuff. I use to get really upset over every little thing until I felt like I hit rock bottom and then learned to appreciate everything I have. And I’ve never been happier 🙂
