Why the fuck is every other non-healthcare related job I see posted here in the province a sales job? Ironic since this is such a fucking piss-poor (financially) province that the only thing we can do is sell crap to someone who can’t afford it (i.e. doesnt need it).
I even saw a job posted the other day that was titled “Regional Manager” and when you clicked into it, the first line (in bold) read “Note: This is a sales position”. Now they’re playing tricks too…
No wonder the economy is fucked here – too many people hired to sell crap to a population that can’t afford it… um, I can kinda see a flaw in that… —Sales! Sales! Sales!

start looking on other job sites, sounds like you are in the cheesy ads, where the same national sales jobs (many are direct/door to door, cold calling) are posted in EVERY province.
i think you should get some job hunting advice if that is where you think real jobs are posted.
I work for CIBC at the contact center. We’re hiring, I’d even put you in the employee referral system as it would benefit me if you got hired and lasted 3 months. There is a “sales” component as it is a bank but its not quite the same as trying to unload shitty products on dupes.
Also, are you job hunting on kijiji? If so you should probably use the hrsdc site.
You will have to work for your paycheque, but there are no sales involved. Always hiring too….

PS- I googled the top employers in NS, its not all sales positions……..
The people with those other non-sales jobs are staying with them and since people don’t move around so much, they don’t need to find new people to fill them.
Since HRM is about 35% government – there are defiantly non-sales positions out there.
The most nomadic people are the ones in sales followed by the ones in social services.

I’d be very curious to see what the average person makes…
if you took government jobs out of the pool.
Everywhere I look, they’re trying to hire someone with “must have’s”, years and years of experience, able to work weekends, etc…
and offer starting salaries of just over half what I make now.
Eff that.
Yeah getting a job here is a career in itself.
