Why do the doors at the ferry terminals not open automatically? You get like 50 people walking on and off the ferry and everyone needs to hold the doors open for the person behind them (if you’re decent enough). I hit the wheelchair button every time to make things easier. —Unnecessarily Unsanitary

Reasonable bitch. It would be nice if they were auto.
and easier to ‘lock down’ if an emergency were to happen….. just like the seven-elevens
I think it might stem from the fact there are some people getting off the ferry that if they saw those doors open, they would use them, causing congestion and probably confusion (if they were tourists).
Valid bitch. Also the Halifax terminal is in desperate need of a good renovation!
I don’t think any of us can claim this Bitch is valid until 1/30th of the Helen’s weigh in.
No.. don’t renovate the Halifax terminal, it’s pleasantly retro now. I actually mean that. I agree with the automatic doors though.
Rubyjaye, I think that the doors could be automatic but still not open until all the disembarking passengers were clear of the area. That happens now as the doors can not be opened until staff hit a button. Just that once the button is hit the doors would then open automatically. Also, the doors at the recently built Bridge terminal are no prize either. A very bad poor design issue there along with other problems.
Alderney Terminal has automatic doors.
Halifax Terminal does too but you have to press a button first.
So much effort! (pfffftttt)
How does anyone ever manage?
You mean to tell me you idiots can’t open a fucking door for yourselves? This is exactly the reason why we are so far in debt, unneeded bullshit so lazy pieces of shit don’t have to push a fucking button. Embarrassing AF!
Agreed Furious.
Not always a case of laziness as you may see when looking at people trying to navigate some of those doors while carrying various things such as groceries or cases or pushing small bundle buggies etc. Also others have mobility issues, arthritis or other medical issues. There are often more reasons other than being lazy.
@Furious- The button only opens 1 door out of 4 or 5 others. Clearly you’ve never taken the ferry.
Exactly, Yickity, because the button is for people, due to a disability, who cannot open the door for themselves. There is no excuse for able bodied people to complain about a door that doesn’t open by itself. Maybe the new doors, if they get installed (which I hope they won’t), should wipe your ass for you and give you a compliment to make you feel better too. Just be thankful you don’t have to take a bus or swim the harbour.
