What a horrible disease this thing is. Incurable, treatable to a degree but still unstoppable. I lost one of my favorite kitties yesterday to this relentless ailment. She was almost 19 years old, and I get the fact that 19 is a pretty good run for a Kittie,it still sucks that I and we had to say goodbye to her. I thank the Vet for the house call, it was truly sensitive and respectful, BUT IT STILL SUCKS.

  1. It’s hard – I lost my two when they were 19 and 20 and it sucked. It took me six months before I could look at any photos of their sweet little mugs. But now I think of all the fond memories they gave me and for that, they will never be forgotten.

My favorite cat tail: Asking my cat Sophie who was the Leader of Communist China in the 1960s. Her reply: Mao!

  2. losing animals always sucks, at least it was a long life your cat had. what i found really tough was trying to explain to a 5 year old why her 8 month old puppy had to die. its never easy.

  3. I can fully understand your loss, any pet is such a blessing and losing them breaks your heart.

  4. Awwww, OP! I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty! I lost my childhood kitty in 2004 to renal failure. We didn’t know he was sick until he got to the end stage. By then there was nothing they could do (he had a urinary tract blockage). We had to put him down. It was incredibly heart wrenching 🙁

I hope you are feeling better soon. Losing a pet is almost, if not harder than losing a human loved one. I’ve managed to find two wonderful kitties about a year after my cat died, and that has helped, although if either one of them died I’d be a wreck.

    *hugs*

  5. Poor little guy. Just be thankful you’re not completely infested with bad karma like Oprah; she just lost her third dog in four years – and they didn’t go from old age either…

  6. yeah, only they were for her 3rd course of supper.
she likes eclectic food and I get that.
Nothing like some bald eagle on a spit.

    OP, my condolences.

  7. I lost my 19 year old cat too a few years ago and it was the hardest thing for my whole family. We then got two kittens a short while later and one of them got sick and had to be put down only a couple of months after we got her. I could still never stop having cats in the house though, as hard as it is to lose them – they bring so much happiness!
