Once again I have been treated not only poorly, but with contempt, by a federal public servant. What the fuck is the point of having douche bags work in “public” positions if all they are going to do is demean the citizens who pay their goddamned salaries?!?! Service Canada? My ass! Passport Canada? Fuck off, Joe Canada! Seeking employment? Better pucker up and kiss the ass of every assistant out there or else you are getting nowhere…and God forbid a question is asked of these people! Time and again, I have been treated like absolute shit. I’m glad that you get decent pay, solid health care, and a very generous pension. Me? Well, I only have 15 years of excellent experience and extensive graduate education, but who am I? You know what — who am I? EVERY citizen should receive the same, FAIR treatment. FUCK YOU, Canada. My home on native’s land can SUCK MY BALLS.

Can’t imagine why anyone would be rude to you.
uh, the line is
“…Our home AND native land..”
that makes me die a little inside.
I don’t always agree, but it’s a fuck of a place to be.
Wow OP, you sound delightful! Will you please come work for me? I could use someone with you positive attitude!
This is a bitch, right? So, the OP is perfectly entitled to bitch about shitty treatment here IMO. As if none of you commenters have never gotten angry over being treated poorly…
Oh, and I’m sure the OP deliberately used “home on native land.” It rings truer than the original.
Seems to me the bitch is devoid of any details. Secondly, if you had a bitch with the service, why didn’t you point it out to the assholes who treated you that way? Only makes sense to me. If they gave me shitty service and treatment, they would have my proverbial boot up their ass and an ear full. You’re painting the whole public service with the same brush here. Not all are like the people you experienced. If you head into their office with a chip on your shoulder and a sense of entitlement, they’re going to react to that in a negative way. Yes their public servants paid by ALL taxpayers, but they’re human too and probably put up with the criticism from people all day, every day. They had the education, experience and ability to get the position they’re in. They have guidelines to follow like everyone else, they don’t make the policies.
I can see how Service Canada would make one want to bitch. Just the other day I was trying to get a form off their site. My pdf viewer is pooched at the moment and you can’t just right-click and download it. The html version of the same form displays only page 1 of a 5 page form because their ‘page turner’ is pooched. I call them, ask if they can fax or email it to me and the default answer is No. They say things like their pdf viewer works just fine.. they’re LOOKING at the document I require and are surrounded by modern technology but NO… they tell me to call Access Nova Scotia who tells me to come in and pick it up because their PDF viewer works fine too… Nobody cares that the web page doesn’t work. Nobody cares is the problem. I used to love my Canada.
OP: I’ve worked in the FPS and this doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Working for the feds sucks out your soul and turns your brain to mush. You think you had shitty service? Well, try dealing with the majority of these asshats on a daily basis. I’m not saying they ALL suck — I’ve worked with some cool ass/sane buggers in the FPS, but most of them are weird as shit.
And since they can never actually be fired (trust me, the shit I’ve seen FPSs pull and NOT get fired is mind boggling), they can do whatever the hell they want, essentially.
FPS = Overpriced, over unionized, over hostile fucktardary.
As a Federal Employee, let me make this abundantly clear to anyone who has to complain about Service Quality. Doing your fucking taxes, providing Federal Facilities, Assistance and Service is hard enough in this HAPRER DICTATORSHIP without having the people who put him there complain insensately. Take it from me, a 10 year veteran; we were better off with the liberals!!!!!! As employees … Harper keeps us all in the Dark until the very last moment, and then it’s us that have to suffer the brunt of your unhappiness. Contrary to what you think, being a FED employee is EXTREMELY STRESSFULL especially when dealing with angry and disturbed people. For all of you who believe that we need a smaller public service and voted for Harper; this is your end result … less employees means more waiting times, reduced quality of service, to much overtime and many disgruntled employees. Before you complain, know that the grass IS NOT GREENER on our side. If you want to blame anyone… blame HARPER. He will be the ruin of this country if he stays … mark my words!!! He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing and no better than Mulroney!
Pretty Kitty: Where the hell did you work, muist have been DND or some other self absorbed devision of the Government … like the PM’s office. Don’t blame the poeple, bleame the policies they have to follow and the lack of a large enough wrok force. I know some Fed employees working 60-70 hours a week because they’ve been refused assistance. Combine this with the fact that Federal issues can be far more difficult … it not surprising so many of us go on Stress leave. Most of you think we need a smaller work force in the Fed government when the opposite is the truth!
hey Em… something tells me the “true patriot love” part should be rewritten too then…..
I’m actually quite pissed at the fucking student loan office right now after spending an hour on the phone waiting to find out their system is ‘conveniently’ down at the moment. They decided not to send me my interest paid on my load and now I’m trying to pry it out of them.
Do I get mad at the call centre lady? no… learned that from previous bitches and dealing with microshaft on the phone (had to replace a failing HDD+reinstall with a new windows key)….
FUCK It…. ya know what, they’re all useless twats who aren’t trying to help anyone. OP, you’re completely right….
hope that brightens your smug fuckin day.
grrr…student loan….grrr…Skipping out on a very long story dealing with student loan people…But what I learned is that, on the other side of the spectrum, the call center people don’t really give a fuck about you, and if they dont’ feel like double checking information, they will just give you what you have,( cause you don’t know who the fuck your talking to anyway( And this isn’t just my conclusion, I have known people that admit to doing that. As such, first thing I do when Im talking to them is ask their name…then they know..you got their name..and then when they start dicking you around ..remain polite obviously, rudeness isn’t going to get anyone anywhere in my belief…but say something like…”sarah was it, ok sarah blah blah blah”..you get the idea, as well write their name down and the time you were talking to them so that when you do have to talk to a manager and you tell the manager the information you got that totally fucked you and when the manager asks when..you can actually say well i got the info from “sarah” at 3:30 on monday the 15th….i donno, since I started doing that I was able to get a lot further with student loan.
I worked in a variety of government departments, and 80% of my co workers were weird as shit.
And I’ve worked in both the atlantic regional offices and the NCR. Same shit, different location/departments.
You still can’t convince me that FPSs aren’t over paid and over unionized.
Miles (from home)…I usually agree with everything you say, but as Em mentioned: bitch board! We don’t know if the OP is as firey pre-bad-treatment as post- (while bitching here). That goes for you too, nevermind.
1fallingangels1…sweet tip, and in the end it would help everyone (by helping weed out the unhelpful call centre employees). If I can remember it for long enough to actually try it once, maybe I will get in the habit…
Here’s a thought – TRY BEING NICE. I’ve had to use Service Canada and Passport Canada before and never once have I had a problem. In fact, they were super. Maybe if you tried smiling with them instead of trying to make your problems theirs they’d go the extra mile for you like they always have for me. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. Even the most sour faced clerk becomes helpful when you stroke their ego a little.
No Dogma, the great thing about writing like this is that there is no way to be certain if a person is being sarcastic. Maybe I really can’t believe why anyone would be rude to the OP and YOU assumed I was being insincere. Tsk Tsk. 😛
Outtatown: That has always been my experience.
Hey Pretty Kitty, don’t know if you will see this or not, but is there a reason why government offices always look so institutional? Is there some kind of regulation against having any colour or artwork on the walls? Or is it just because, well, it’s the government?
