Do you have stance on the Israeli / Palestinian conflict?

  1. First off – wearing a keffiyeh doesn’t have to mean anything. They are also called shemagh and people all over the Arabian diaspora wear them.Second off – wearing any of those things does nothing to protect Palestinians from Israeli aggression and occupation. The only thing that might help – if in fact you really want to help – is to have dialogue with our government and tell them that the “aid” we give to Israel is wrong, and that your tax dollars is best spent not supporting apartheid governments.

  2. Some of us buy these scarves at Army Surplus because they are big, warm, and cheaper than the bullshit scarves at the stores cited by the OP. I’m not trying to be a goddamn hipster or make a political statement—I’m trying to keep my neck warm. It is one of many scarves I wear. Relax.

  3. Fuck sakes, wasn’t this “news” last year when some woman with a tv cooking show was photo’d wearing one? One of those household name personalities but not Martha.Get over it, its a fashion accessory, like Peace Buttons on combat helmets.

  4. completely agree with optimus prime rib there.Who are you calling ignorant? If you (and anyone else who bitches about this) had done a little more research, you would have found out that a keffiyeh is regular, every day headwear in many Arab countries and has no political affiliations. Someone in the West said: hey, didn’t that Arafat guy wear that on his head? Gosh, that must mean everyone who wears a keffiyeh has something to do with the PLO….and everyone went along with that.Get your head out of the sand and bitch about something you’re at least remotely informed about next time.

  5. good call dr. cranky.the army navy store indeed has the good khotras on sale, not the thin small crap that most people wear.those things are uber-handy in sand storms as well.
