Farewell to Ms Nova Scotia
Farewell to Nova Scotia, you backwards ‘Alabama of the North’. I loved you, but you just couldn’t stay up to date, do the things I wanted to do, or accept me for who I am. Sure, I supported you for a while, but you took me for granted, making me pay

hahaha love the bitch, great stuff. But a pinot grigio could have been at from either Bishops Cellar or Cristall & Luckett in Bedford. I agree the grocery stores should be open on Sunday’s, if not then close down Pete’s and everything else that is open. It is some of you people that preach the big family day, that are the ones that pound your families out to the brunch’s after your church services or head to the theatre. We all have families as well you know and just because we are young and without children, doesn’t mean that we don’t like to spend time with our own brothers sisters mothers fathers etc etc. Get a life if you don’t want to shop then don’t, but at least be pratical with what your wishing for. Close everything down, tourist attractions, gas bars, restaurants, theatres, TIM HORTON’S, strip clubs, clubs, bars,CASINOS VLT’S, patios, national parks and since Churches are big business as well, shut them down to, or allow them to open but absolutely no donations on Sunday’s on and on I could go. Now what about people of other religions that don’t observe their Sabbath on Sunday? Everything should be closed on Friday at sundown out of respect for those that don’t observe on Sunday and on and on. Once everything is closed then we have no alternative but to spend all that quality time with our families. I see that the Superstore is opening on SUNDAY JULY2, where can I make a donation for their legal fees. Go get em big business I am sure that you’ll have the support that is desired. Plus I would like the extra hours
EVER HERE THE EXPRESSION LIKE IT OR LEAVE IT. WELL IM GLAD YOU LEFT.
HAHAHA – enjoy upper crust, er, Canada you stupid assclown!! It sucks up there!!! You’ll be beggin’ to move back east, anbd when you do, you’ll probably claim that you loved it here all along…
To those of you SLAMMING the writer of this BITCH, why don’t you get LIVES? Obviously you missed the point. As great as this city is, we should be able to do what we want, when we want to!! Not all religions recognize Sunday as the sabbath. Close the city down for the entire W/E if we have to appease all people and their NEED(ha ha) to spend a family day. Plenty of people work Sunday. Make family day on your day off and get over this ##%#*% crap. I can’t wait to shop this Sunday just to send a message!!!
uuu (dry heave)reading this type of lame shit tires me outif you are smart, which you claim to be why didn’t you plan ahead and buy your dead animal flesh on saturday?, or shop around and find your intoxicating beverages at the bishop’s cellar, i think the no shopping on sunday thing is unjust since canada is a country not a religion but i’m smart enough to plan ahead because of this bullshit’making me pay thousands on an education ….’, please explain thisi’m curious where you are fromhave fun shopping in ontario, it sounds really exciting
Why can’t people choose for themselves what they do??? If you don’t want to shop on Sunday ~ DON’T. If you want to shop on a Sunday ~ GO RIGHT AHEAD. Choice and independence are something Canadians generally pride themselve upon, yet here’s an example of ridiculous conservatism, whereas “if I don’t want it, ain’t nobody gonna have it” thought reigns. Would it not be simpler just to let all the doors open when businesses wanted (seriously) and let people make the choice themselves. I’m sure it will be shocking how many times people who originally chose no shopping on Sundays, will have to run out to ‘grab something’ from a store typically not open on the Christian sabbath. Just give it up already…this is getting ridiculous. We’re becoming a National embarassment with such silly restrictions. Soon folks are going to not only think “why go there for a weekend if there isn’t anything even open in d-town Hali on a Sunday” to “did ya hear they marry their cousins?” Let’s get with the times folks!
Have fun in Ontario…by the sounds of it you’re from there originally. And Sunday shopping isn’t a necessity of life. Having lived in Nova Scotia, British Columbia and offshore, I can tell you…you only have so much money to spend whether you do it in six days or seven. So unfortunately it’s the store owners who suffer – having to staff a store for an extra day with the extra income being only a nominal amount. And don’t forget the entrepreneurs and small businesses who have, until now, made a living by being open on Sunday…will this help them feed their families? I’m sick of the me me me attitude. Have a look around and realize that Sunday shopping might make your life more convenient, and might cause someone else to have to move to Ontario…and wouldn’t that be a sad sad sad thing. Because there is no place like home.
Ya yippee the Superstore is opening on Sunday woo hoo, now I cna go to the cold beer store, grab some steaks and seafood and have a feast with my family this long weekend. Pat on the back for the Superstore. Life is about challenges and I hope that they win this one
THIS BITCH I COULD HAVE WROTE MYSELF.I HATE THIS PLACE AND I TRIED SO HARD TO MAKE IT WORK HERE.EVEN BORN HERE AND SHUNNED WHEN I RETURNED BECAUSE I WAS EDUCATED AT MCGILL, FUCK YOU ALL YOU PRIMITIVE IDIOTS!YOU INFERIORITY COMPLEXES ARE SAD AND SICKENING.YOU MARITIMERS HAVEN’T EVEN LEFT THIS COUNTRY LET ALONE PROVINCE, YOU KNOW NOTHING SOON THAT NOTE, KEEPYOUR FUCKING HOLE UNDER YOUR NOSE CLOSED.WHEN IN ROME…!
Thank God, someone has the $$$ to challenge the Government and these silly pesky church groups. Throw open all the doors. Way to go Superstore
It’s great to see that big business is ready to challenge the minor laws of this land to make it a better and more convenient place for us…now all we have to do is get the heritage groups out of the way so that some other people can invest huge $$$ in Halifax like the Twisted Sisters project and the Midtown project. Blend the future with the past don’t stop progress
I walked into SOBEYS late friday night to get my “supplies” for the weekend. As I fought through the crowds, I finally reach the cashier who without me asking, offered her opinion on Sunday shopping. She stated that she was p*ssed becasue she “never had to work” and the entire staff is angry. Lady, shut the hell up! For us that had no choice EVER but to work Sundays, we never complained to customers about how we felt about Sunday Shopping. I NEVER ASKED YOUR OPINION, nor did I ever give mine on a sunday. Society is changing. Canada welcomes EVERYONE and not all agree with the “day of rest”. If people want to shop…let them. For those who do have to work Sunday’s, take my advice…DO NOT TELL PEOPLE HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT IT UNTIL THEY ASK! To the lady who works in the smoke shop at SOBEYS-Clayton Park..SHUT IT!!!
I cannot understand why it is considered “progress”, or “moving forward” to have shoppes opened on a Sunday. If you want a pot roast for a Sunday lunch, why can’t that pot roast be purchased during one of the remaining six days a week that the store is opened? Surely, people do not work a full 24 hours a day for Monday through Saturday. So, you would like stores to be opened on Sunday, so you can have that inpromptu picnic? Well, if the stores were opened, as well as other places of business, chances are you would be working on Sunday, so that even though you could buy the roast, you would not be around to eat it. I am exceedlingly happy for you, however, that you are no happily eating pot roasts every Sunday in Ontario. I hope you are taking advantage of it. I, for one, think I will remain in NS (where, consequently, I paid for education, and found a very good job in my field), and live with the hardship of not being able to spontaneously build a deck or cook a pot roast on a Sunday.
DONT WANT TO WORK ON SUNDAYS? CHANGE JOBS. THEN YOU WONT HAVE TOO. AS FOR SUNDAY SHOPPING YOU ALL LOST. PLEASE GIVE IT UP. BAD LOSERS!
I say close it all down, let those church goers have the real family time, not shops, no gas, no theatre, no casino, no beverage rooms, no strip clubs, and God forbid NO BRUNCHES AT THE LOCAL HOTELS. Sobeys and Loblaws please throw lots of money at this and move us forward to end this god forsaken battle.
