Well done Liz Feltham for going once again beyond the call of duty to attempt to ruin the business of a popular and successful restaurant!

Congratulations on showing us all one more time what little respect you have for servers and how petty you really are. The fries were from a bag? At a brewpub? What a revelation!

The real revelation is that you, Liz, have no interest in making useful recommendations; your so-called reviews are “mockery” of good taste. Why the Coast is still peddling your borderline slanderous diatribes is a mystery to many many readers.

You’ve been served.

  1. If Liz Feltham publishes a bad review, I consider it a good sign the food will be pretty decent. If she publishes a good review, I steer clear of the place. Her taste seems to be very down-market.

  2. Liz Feltham doesn’t know squat about food. I’ve known porcine plate attendants, or potential plate attendants that know more about food than her. Don’t ask me how I know piggly wigglies, it’s a personal issue:p

  3. I’m sure if her review had been positive, you’d be applauding Ms. Feltham for her good taste. The lady calls it as she sees it. If the service was crappy, then do something about it rather than bitch online. I think I might take a wander down to the brewpub to check it out for myself. Anyone care to join me?

  4. I didn’t see anything in her article that could be perceived as “slanderous”. Taste is very subjective, so you’re not necessarily going to agree with it.

  5. Pub food is always pretty rubbish, and the service always swinging wildly between “prozac over-the-top friendly bordering on psychotic or facetiousness” and “nearly completely disengaged mentally and socially”. Most owners should put away their egos, bite the bullet and stop thinking they can run their own pub. Then hire a decent chef, overhaul the menu and staff and gain accolades and profits from being a popular “gastropub”. I have never seen a decent example of one in the maritimes, but if you have a chance visit “The Irish Heather” in Vancouver’s Gastown…its the perfect example.

  6. Despite the awful sounding name “gastropub” (sounds like soe kind of stoach disorder from drinking too much beer) we do have one in the Maritimes, The Port, in Port Williams. And it is very good indeed.

  7. Actually Liz just did a positive review on the best pub food in HRM. The Mic Mac Tavern. The place is constantly packed but if you can find a seat, you’re usually served immediately and the food is the best pub food in the city.

  8. Ick. I don’t like the MicMac Tavern…but the Celtic Corner across from Alderney Landing was good when I lived there about 2 yrs ago. Don’t know if it’s still decent or not.

  9. I’m not keen on Mic Mac Tavern either. There’s a decent pub food place down on Barrington near the Westin side of the city. I can’t remember what the place is called, though. Nice food, good service.
