The demise of the community centre was a horrible, devastating thing, agreed. However at what time and or who gave our present councillor and volunteer board to approach HRM to extend this tax rate and at what point were we going to be formally educated on this situation? This is unacceptable and self serving, to a select group of individuals in the area. I am pissed that I am already paying an extra area rate for the centre, where there are not-for-profit business running their profitable business. This is a conflict of interest that has been allowed and supported with the majority of the community having no idea.
The current board and the rebuild committee should have open and transparent meetings for the community to be exposed to ALL the information, meeting times should be posted and community consulted on going ons. Tired of self serving committees making decisions not community based, but based on what works for the exclusive group in the area. So now I pay an area rate (one of the highest in HRM ) and my children will and if extended so will their children… for a community centre… seriously! —Pissed Over Area Rate
