For crying out loud, how often are expiration dates checked on products in our grocery stores?? Last time I checked, August 2007 comes BEFORE 2008. The majority of these ‘out of date’ products tend to be in the Health Food Sections and Ethnic Food sections of a certain grocery store chain. I’ve been to three different locations in the past few weeks, and each store had multiple products dated 2007. And my favorite so far… February 2005.
EEYUCK!! Smarten up and check your shelves once in awhile!

Right on for all points covered Elbee. Sobey’s always seems a little dirty too, like the black scum that collects around the bottom (near the floor) of all the racks and stands…just simply gross, I have yet to see that at Superstore.
I picked up a couple of oversized chocolate bars from Sobeys one time and both Caramilks were squished into a caramel paste. I was sooooo pissed off.
Ellbee & Christopher… I submitted the ‘Bitch’ and the grocery store chain I was referring to was Sobeys. And I have to say that I haven’t had any expired product run-ins at Superstore. If it happened in one location….maybe I could forgive & forget (and that’s a BIG maybe). But three locations…. definitely not. It really is inexcusable.
Strangely enough, this has happened to me only at Sobeys – one of the many reasons I never shop there anymore (aside from the fact my grocery bill is always $20+ higher than when I shop at Superstore). Besides, their ‘Our Compliments” Brand sucks big time compared to ‘President’s Choice’.
Oh eww – we stopped shopping at Sobeys because Superstore is closer – as sad as I am knowing I can’t necessarily donate my Superstore Receipts or get Air Miles – I’m glad their produce (and apparantly expiry dates) is fresh and available.
Maybe http://www.environmentalhealth.ca/ and http://www.lesstoxicguide.ca/ would like to check things out? I mean, maybe you could submit them your encounters?
I really like the smell of the milk section at the Sobey’s in Clayton park…really burrows deep into my nostrals…clean up your sour milk spills.
