I don’t think I’ve ever read critical press about anything ‘artistic’ in this city- local music, film, exhibits, books, etc…Outside of politics, critical reviews are inexplicably reserved for food columns here. This has an uneasy leveling effect- every kid gets an MVP medal in Halifax. It can’t all be great just because it’s local, can it? Who is this attitude serving? I appreciate a reviewer who can inform as well as give a measured, informed opinion- build a consistent relationship with your audience, let bias be known, essentially show yourself and opine vs. fact reporting and the generic east coast gold star. I know we’re small and mildly incestuous here on the peninsula-everyone knows everyone in the arts and press eventually- but please, dig in a little more for everybody’s sake. —shitty artist

“It can’t all be great just because it’s local, can it?”
First time reader of The Coast, are we? It ain’t “Socialist Realism” if you actually go so far as to tell the truth.
read Visual Arts News Magazine
Dig a little more like… you for example?
Pretty much everyone except for Tim who writes for the Coast just promotes their inner circle of friends %90 of the time. What you get is a hipster rag full of shitty bands and art.
This is a pretty lame arsed posting. The level of vitriol is tapering off, it must be either Ramadamdingdong or the humidity.
To liven things up, I propose we have a new column entitled CUNT OF THE WEEK – people can send in suggestions and perhaps we can have a vote on it?
Here’s a contender

^^ she has it wrapped up for decades
^^ speaking of which, don’t her new shiny bracelets look chic?
They’d look better if they were attached to the bumper of a septic tank drainage truck, taking the scenic route to Yarmouth Co.
There’s already enough shit in Yarmouth…
take that steaming load to CB
