The HRM actually cleans streets?
I was thinking the same thing LHH.
Boo-frikkin’-hoo. Cry me a river you whiney bitch. I bet if the streets weren’t cleaned and your kid slipped and fell on some broken glass or some shit, you’re the type of asshole that would sue the city. It’s not like they come on random nights to clean the streets. Get some damned ear plugs and use them on the night of the week that they clean the streets. Suck it up and deal. Fucking whiner.
Do people park on your street in the daytime ? I saw a street cleaner going around on Sunday because where he cleaned is full of parked cars on weekdays from 6.30 am to 4 pm. If he went by 4 times just call HRM and ask them why.
What are the odds; I’m betting this might be Super Dad from Saturdays bitch (I will slap your damn face) – you could’ve made the street cleaners some tea or coffee as you were awake, how inconsiderate are you!!
Sometimes the city can’t win. People bitch when they don’t do a job and then complain when they do, Be fucking happy your street got cleaned.
Thats one of the reasons i moved to dartmouth
the damn street sweepers
Do, on which of the four passes do you guys think the street was actually clean? I can see maybe twice (once in each direction), but 4 times?
Holy fuck, OP, it was midnight, not 3 a.m. so consider yourself lucky. I swear I can hear your nasally whine from Prospect.
This is a legit bitch. Some people can’t get back to sleep after being woken up, no matter what time it is.
Actually, I agree with dgaf. Friday, Saturday night? Sure, Sunday night? FUCK OFF.
When some of us have to drag our arses out of bed at 5:30am to haul our asses to work for 8 hours some of us require a decent amount of sleep…shit I need at least 9-10 to function properly when I’m workin’ a 9-5er. So it isn’t unreasonable to request some quiet after oh say 10pm-ish.
Actually, a 4 dollar pair of re-usable earplugs seems to do the trick of getting rid of unwanted noise. Works for my fiance, and she’s an extremely light sleeper.
Try melatonin. It’s all natural and puts you out like a light — trust me, you sleep through anything.
The problem with ear plugs is that you may not hear an alarm clock with them in. I’m a HEAVY sleeper, but there are some things that WILL keep me up (sleeping in the same room as a snorer, perhaps) and if I use ear plugs I won’t hear my [loud] alarm clock — I’ve already tried it. And my alarm clock is LOOOOOUUDDDD enough as it is and that even barely wakes me up…not sure why the snoring keeps me up…
Anyway, it’s just STUPID to clean the streets on a weeknight at midnight when A LOT of people have to work in the morning (the majority of workers, I’d say). Do it on a weekend!
Melatonin is great, it has some other health benefits as well.
I couldn’t wait to get my street cleaned. Winter garbage is gross and it’s a sign that summer is here. Get some earplugs!
If there were no street cleaners you’d be bitching about how dirty the streets are.
So because an individual might be woken up by the street cleaners the people who drive them have to work weekends? Bullshit.
I think this bitch is legit in that I’d be pissed off too, but I wouldn’t demand a change as some people have suggested. I like clean streets just as much as sleep.
I think I’d be dancing in said street as soon as I realized it actually got cleaned! Imagine! A clean street in Halifax! Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!
This isn’t really a bitch but rather a question which I have. Ok, here’s what I can’t figure out, so maybe some of you might have an answer.
Police cars & fire trucks. I’m sure you’ve seen it many time before. It’s late night/early morning and a high speed HPD car or cars and a wagon, with lights goes flying down the street, doing at least 80. The lights are on, but no siren.
Fire truck..doing about 30, lights on, but damn siren going off all the way to wherever they’re going. Why the hell do they have their sirens on at 2 in the morning??? You can see the lights from across town and the rumbling of their engine wakes up the entire neighbourhood, so why do they need to crank on their sirens as well? Then when they’re on their way back to the station, they engine brake in a residential neighbourhood.
Is there a section in the motor vehicle act that deals with emergency vehicles and the protocols that they have to take? Why do police vehicles not turn on their sirens (though they’re travelling at much higher speeds) whereas fire trucks can make as much noise as they want?
First, because a fire truck is not as manoueverable as a police vehicle and takes longer to stop.
Secondly, the police know the streets better as they are always patrolling, fire on the other hand are usually out answering a call or once or twice a shift for a quick run.
Thirdly, and most important is the police will run “silent” as not to warn an offender they are coming.
Bro Tim,
– Fire truck not as maneuverable….it’s going less than twice as slow as the police vehicles. So why does it still have to have its sirens on at 2am??? How much vehicle & pedestrian traffic is there on the roads at those hours? A lot of times, ambulances will run without their sirens on, just lights. I’m sure they’re responding to life & death situations.
– Fire stations are located throughout various neighbourhoods of HRM. They don’t go across town to answer a call unless required for backup. They know the area they’re in and with GPS and dispatch, they have up to date maps of all the streets.
– If you can’t see police lights flashing, you must be blind. They light up an entire area. Also, why are fire trucks allowed to engine brake throughout residential neighbourhoods?
Your reply didn’t answer the questions that I had. Since both are classified as emergency vehicles, shouldn’t both have to follow the same basic protocols in terms of lights & sirens?
