I walk in to various popular establishments in HRM and they are actively encouraging their patrons to vote for them in The Coast’s “Best of” categories. There are posters or reminders of one sort or another everywhere. It seriously devalues your winning establishments. Are they really the “best” or do they just know how to get out the vote? —Stewart

  1. Is there truly any truth to who gets selected? Or do they just pop by one of the university campuses handing out free shit to ‘buy’ votes.

  2. usually, if you are the best, you don’t have to advertise, or beg for it. when i go to a restaurant, i expect good service, and cheerful personel. if you are grumpy or not on your best, stay away from your work. because the owner’s bottom line will suffer for it.

  3. C-mon, people actually believe what they read in the Coast?
    Who’s zoomin’ who here. >; )

  4. C’mon, it’s a ‘popularity contest’, get over it. It’s fun and no one is getting hurt.
