Why do people feel the need to talk like dis n dat n type shiat like who da fuk carez. Last time i checked, it was never actually cool to do that, nor would anyone hire you for a job, nor is it easy for anyone to understand what you’re typing. We come from an English language background. They actually teach it in school, if you’ve actually gone to school, and paid attention.

100% agree!! thanks for posting it. I’m an ESL teacher and it drives me nuts!
I hate to be the one to point this out, but Ginger your comments are some of the most inarticulate and poorly written on this board. In fact I normally scroll right past them. I know I wouldn’t want you teaching me English!
Mrs. C what I do in the class room and what I do out of the class room in my own personal life is simply that. I am professional in the classroom and got great job references to boot. So pardon me jackass if i let my hair down outside the classroom and join the rest of society.
and Mrs C you can keep right on scrolling past my other comments too moron!
Yeah every Canadian is from an English speaking background…and we don’t have a 2nd language here. There isn’t an entire province that is full of French speaking individuals of French speaking descent. There aren’t major French cultural communities in nearly every single province in Canada.Canada has never had an immigrant from anywhere other than the almighty English speaking Western World…ok then.
Don’t worry, I will!I just think someone who’s teaching others how to speak English should have a solid command of the language. Most of your posts would suggest you don’t.
Christopher, other than the one line about the english backgrounds, which I think you chose to focus on, I think this bitch is not about language diversity, but the “erosion” of the english language from influences such as Gangsta Rap and Text-type. In that case I think the OP only meant that if you profess to speak english, speak it properly. I submit though that languages evolve anyway, and in an age where electronic media are more prevalent it seems inevitable that sloppy electronic shorthand will become increasingly standard, much to the chagrin of english teachers everywhere. But until that time, you are going to look dumb if you use ghetto slang and text-type in any kind of formal setting.
It’s ok to text-type while texting or on msn and what not. But when space is available without restrictions, to allow a person to type the entire word correctly without using ghetto slang and what have you, they should do that. Languages do evolve. Arabic wasn’t the way it is now, my mother tongue is Arabic, and i remember how it evolved from something i don’t completely understand to something i’m fluent at. Take Egyptian Hieroglyphics for example, Egyptians stopped using those once languages evolved. For people to insist on evolving language to something that’s meaningless and useless most of the time, that’s just plain stupid and makes no sense really. I agree with Miles, people seriously look unedumacated and dum wit no clazz wat so eva when day type n talk like dis.
One more thing, I seriously didn’t see a reason for Ginger to be attacked on a personal level!
thanks coyotex neither do I 🙂 big hugs to you
I understood the objective of the bitch Miles, but chose to pick out the statement as it was so off the mark and incorrect not to mention a little offensive (though I don’t think it was intentional rather it was more likely a slip by someone raised with an English background assuming the rest of Canada shared the same experiences)”you are going to look dumb if you use ghetto slang and text-type in any kind of formal setting”I agree entirely but I believe it goes a bit further: you use ghetto slang and text-type, you always look like an ass.
