Earth Day was recently upon us and I saw haligonian “hippies” had formed a group prompting “Earth friendly” activity and “awareness” in our own commons. Drum circles, hooping and overall fun was had by all but I was later informed that these people were using styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery that littered the commons during their “Earth friendly” gathering. A day later, I walked though the commons noticing dozens of posts left from these people promoting fresh water with laminated (less decomposable) fish hanging from them promoting Earth day. I am fully supportive of Earth friendly activities and do everything I can through recycling, composting and purchasing of Earth friendly products but I think these “hippies” should consider their effects on mother Earth, considering I’m out collecting all of the garbage they created to promote Earth awareness. —Fellow Earthling

It makes them feel good to say the are accomplishing something, when a simple donation to an actual organization would prove a lot less harmful.

I walked through the Commons on the day after Earth Day. Someone had kicked down/uprooted all the blue markers, so I collected them and put them in the garbage.
