How can the government classify e-cigarettes the same as tobacco cigarettes? This is vapour, not an exhaust tube of toxics like regular cigarettes. And, if this vapour is harmful, then give the public some solid evidence of this! Why this fucking witch hunt over a product that can actually help people quit? —Tired of Being Told What To Do By the Fucking Gov’t.

Has anyone paused to think that by vapourizing a toxic substance may increase it’s toxicity thereby increasing it’s health risks?
Can the nicotine in tobacco, (the desired drug in this case), be separated out as easily as the delta molecule in weed? I’d be interested in seeing that study. Until then, I’ll continue to vap my MJ and light my cigs.

Now OB… if you think that replacing one nicotine delivery system (cigarettes) with another (e-cigarettes, patches, gum, sprays, etc.) will actually help you quit smoking, you’re deluding yourself. Zyban is no use either. Try Champix.
In answer to your question surrounding the witch-hunt: it’s the government’s way of getting the public onside of their position to tax this product as they do tobacco products, and therefore developing an new revenue stream.

There was a class action lawsuit recently for people who suffered injuries and/or fatal side effects from champix – so it’s not the wonder drug you think it is. They aren’t allowed to sell e-cigs with the nicotine in them around here. Which sucks. Replacement therapy works. I don’t wanna suck on stupid vapour with no kick. Sell the good ones with the nic. Nicotine is on par with caffeine and isn’t all that dangerous. It’s the hundreds of other chemicals they add that kill and the combustion that causes lung issues. I think they’re a good invention that helped a lot of people successfully quit already. I personally know three. They should promote them more rather than ban them to protect their tobacco revenues.
Well now, to clarify your first point no_fool, there are class-action lawsuits for many, many prescription medications. And the majority of those lawsuits are in our litigious-crazy neighbour’s country, the U.S. And many lawsuits in our litigious-crazy neighbour’s country are bogus ones (those lawyers really don’t get millions for their clients…)!
I quit smoking for 32 years and replacement therapy didn’t work for me. Smoke-free for 4 years, one month, 29 days and approximately 48 minutes, Champix worked for me!

Meaty, it wasn’t a frivolous American civil suit, the class action against Pfizer (champix manufacturer) is proceeding in Ontario Superior Court. Pfizers appeal was dismissed. Shit causes depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Congrats on quitting. I’ll stick with a harmless e-cig over a magic pill that’s gonna mess up my brain chemistry. Can’t fucks with dis beautiful mind.
@No Fool, you can get the ecigarettes with the nicotine e-juice around here, but you just have to know where to look… I have one, and I’m loving it! It doesn’t have the tar and other carcinogenic poisons that are in cigarettes, and it has no odor. The vapour disappears as soon as you exhale it out! It comes in a gazillion different flavours too 🙂
…and I truly believe that the government sees them as a threat to the revenue they take in from smokers. They are a much safer alternative to smoking cigarettes.

No fool…if you are in Metro, travel the north end Hfx road with an abundance of car dealerships and chain restaurants on it and you will find a shop to take care of you. My wife has smoked for 25 years and wish she would supplement and/or replace with e-cig. It’s probably not risk free but has got to be less damaging than traditional tobacco. I agree with most, this has nothing to do with health for NS gov…just revenue loss. If the number of my co workers who have switched is any indication, tobacco tax revenue is likely being slowly strangled. Cheers.

The last thing the government wants is for smokers to stop smoking. If they wanted to put and end to it, all tobacco products would be outlawed. They are reaping huge financial gain from smokers, yet want to keep us neatly hidden. Hypocrites? Ummm yeah.
Ahhhh miss the ole cigs….any way to transport back to 97 so I can smoke the “Last One” one more time.
