I’m possibly going to get flamed for this, but I don’t really give a fuck. I think the concept of “hate crime” is stupid because it treats crimes against minorities as somehow greater than crimes against the majority, which is counter-intuitive to society’s supposed goal of equality. I think that all crimes should be treated as equal, regardless of race, religion, etc.
I think a hate crime is a crime commited against someone for NO other reason than they belong to a specific group. That is the distinction.
So, the water balloon could be seen as Halifax’s equivalent to an IED?

May I ask you what colour the baloon was? Oh, whats that? Colour doesn’t matter when its a balloon, only when your a human. I highly doubt that this insident was racially motivated, just happened to be a bunch of jerk teens throwing a water balloon at another “person”. On one side of the spectrum there are racist people, but on the other side there are people like you who go to far and think that everytime there is an incident involving white people (usually) and any other race it means that it is motivated by racism. I don’t think that this is some sort of water balloon scare tactic to get middle easterns out of Halifax. Open your eyes, not everything is a hatecrime.
