Hey little drummer boy, tell your hippie parents to rent you a jam space so we can live in peace. I’m not sure if it pure ignorance or arrogance but do you not realize that no one in the neighborhood appreciates listening to your crap night after night. After a long day in school and then work the last thing I need to hear the the constant drones out of your second floor window that reverbs all down the street.

Noise bylaws! Get right up in his grill.
I walked down Vernon the other day and I noticed this. You have my sympathies. I’d start with an letter in their mailbox and hopefully that will do the trick.
I know exactly the house you’re talking about. I used to live very close by, and had many summer afternoons in the backyard wrecked by this kid.
Well……
how do you exspect people to improve on playing fi they cant play any where?
if it is after 9 am and before 11 pm i say let em drum!
I’m not sure about the laws here but in NL it’s 11pm that noise has to stop. I know it for a fact as my band used to jam in a loft downtown with old people living nearby, and one night at exactly 11:00 copcar lights came on out in the driveway, and the cops said they had a complaint but didn’t want to stop up while we were playing Pink Floyd, and said noise has to stop at 11. They were cool about it. You’re an ass. Halifax should support aspiring local musicians.
I agree!
like i said how are people to improve their playing if they never can?
We have drummers/band playing around here too. I like it most times. Its a different sound then listening to the same old songs. Go with the flow I say. Enjoy it. Schools out for most kids so they are staying up later anyway.
Absolulely they should be encouraged to practice and get better. We have to support our local and upcoming musicians.
Having said that, it doesn’t mean I have to love it when I’m sitting out in my backyard on a hot sunny day, and I’m forced to listen to the same beat over and over and over…
I know that kid as well on Vernon. I’ve been hearing him nightly since September. He is not that good and he hasn’t been getting any better. Maybe he should do himself a favour and hang up his drum sticks.
My advice is to go to Musicstop, ask them for numbers/flyers of people who give drum lessons, and put that in his mailbox, not a letter condemning him for taking an interest in the arts.
Put some ear muffs on. The poor kid is practising, no out spray painting buildings, or breaking in to cars. Leave him alone
He may very well take lessons, NL. I spent 20 years in classical piano lessons and the more advanced you get the more time you have to spend practicing. I was up to a good two-three hours a day by the time I finished with my lessons.
I can see how this would be annoying though — drums are probably one of the most annoying instruments on the planet on their own. Which is why I’m glad I played something like piano — when I practiced people walking by my house used to stop and listen to me play *blush*
It’s encouraging to hear there are people out there who actually practice their craft BEFORE they get on the stage.
kitty, did you know…? Piano is also a percussion instrument.
I’ll bet the kid holds tempo or even some semblance of a beat. That’s one of the LAST things a piano student will provide with their performance. Tap your foot since you can, OP
hey samtheman, well that was just rude
so buddy has been playing for under a year and hes not that great thats fine but saying “time to hang up your drum sticks” How are you to learn? he may be taking drumming lessons you dont knwo as he prob wouldnt be doing it at home. I say let the boy drum! I dont know if you have tried to play drums on your own but its fucking hard!
