Just an FYI for anyone driving in Dartmouth. When you’re turning left off of Eisener Blvd (where the Portland Estates Superstore is) on to Portland St there are TWO left hand turning lanes. Stay in your FUCKING LANE! In the last 24 hours I’ve encountered two separate drivers who cut from the inside lane to the outside lane during their left hand turn. One driver cut me off, and the second almost hit me! Thankfully I was paying enough attention that I could slow down to avoid being hit and honk at the stupid inattentive driver.

At least if the asshats would have hit you, they would have been at fault. Idiot drivers are a dime a dozen in this city.
I’ve seen too many people incorrectly make a turn as you have described OP. One wonders how they were even able to achieve their driver’s license with such a poor understanding of rules of the road!
same thing can be said for coming out of the halifax shopping center. i mean there was even a handy sign demonstrating the proper way of navigating this particularly stressful and challenging maneuvre. inside lane stay on inside, even IF you want the farthest left lane(left turn at the next intersection) you do not have the right to cut across into someone to get there. lol my father drives an unmarked police cruiser back home. and when he pulled a person over for doing just that to him, well they were shocked that they couldnt just DO it when they wanted.
The one I love is the mysterious vanishing lane coming from the McKay Bridge going towards the Fairview overpass… What engineer thought up that brilliance? The bewildered faces I’ve seen there, followed by faces of pure terror… It’s spectacular.
Or the mysteriously vanishing AND THEN REAPPEARING 50 ft LATER lane on Portland st in front of the Chevy dealership. If only they’d widen that part of the road a couple of feet, I wouldn’t have to fear the passenger side of my car being torn off on a daily basis.
As you’re coming up Bayers Rd, you come upon the mall entrance, and I’ll be damned if I can ever figure out what lane entering (of the 2) equals what lane exiting that intersection (there are 3). I hope I can soon, buses are terrible things to collide with. Dotted lines please.
We could definitely use a few more dotted lines and better signage and road paint around HRM. This is not a uniquely Halifax problem though – lots of cities are even worse than we are. Saint John, New Brunswick, for example, which is worse than anywhere in the world in every way imaginable. OK OK, no more Saint John hate.
