I’ve had enough of the ass-hats who drive down Inglis St. at breakneck speed and refuse to stop for pedestrians at the cross-walk near the bottom of the hill. I always make sure that drivers have plenty of time to stop before I will attempt to cross the street. I’m sure there are plenty of pedestrians who don’t, but I will not tolerate a driver who gets angry at me because they are now 5 seconds late for their self-important lives. To the fuckwad who nearly hit me when I crossed the street on Monday night around 10pm; I sincerely hope you get crushed at a cross-walk by an idiot driver like yourself. Enjoy your early grave.

  1. I haven’t really noticed a problem on inglis… other than one time I was at the 4 way stop…
stopped and wheelchair guy stopped in the crosswalk because I started to slowly roll forward before he was completely across.

Had he continued at pace, there was no way I’d hit him nor was I going anywhere’s near fast enough not to react in time to his dead-stop in the walkway.
    Fucking jerk.

there are plenty of crosswalks on that street though, no reason to be going more than 40 or there’s a good chance you’re gonna cream someone.

  2. They need more proper crossing lights at marked crosswalks to make things safer. You know, the ones with the flashing amber lights that go “BEEEEEEPPPP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP…”

And remember: EVERY intersection is a crosswalk! As a pedestrian, you have the right of way to cross ANY street at any time at any intersection. If you are hit, it will always be the driver’s fault. Technically.

  3. I know that, but still, technically, you will be in the right as a pedestrian, and can technically have the driver charged for technically failing to yield to a pedestrian at a technical crosswalk. Technically, it’s the law!

On a side note, I love that older Family Guy episode where Chris is an artist in New York dating Kate Moss, who keeps being blown out windows or slipping through cracks in the floor.

  4. ” If you are hit, it will always be the driver’s fault.”

    That’s good to know.
You could have something cool on your tombstone, like “aha!”…or “see? SEE?!”

  5. Overall, the point I’m actually trying to make is that it’s a bit of a silly rule. I think pedestrians should only have the right of way at marked crosswalks, but should also be allowed to jaywalk at their own risk. Works like this in a lot of places. Of course there’s always common sense, but common sense should coincide with the law. That’s what the law is based on: common sense and commonly recognized standards of decency. That’s why we have and need so many lawyers.

  6. Law needs to be changed as in Europe, cars have the right of way, they’re heavier. Sometimes. Then, low and behold, the pedestrian would be responsible for looking both ways. And WTF, they don’t teach kids how to cross the street and more? And get this, the cops don’t put on bicycle training for the young kids anymore, although, they’re legally allowed to share the road with vehicles. That’s fucked. I used to love using my hand signals and going around the pylons. What a fucken rip off!
