I’m not sure if Halifax has a disproportionately higher percentage of colour-blind people than everywhere else, or if drivers think that stoplights are merely suggestions. But, within a 20min period today I saw two cars sit idly at greens, picking their noses. I don’t know how many people turning left well past the end of their green, and one car roaring into a left turn on a green and honking like mad at the poor pedestrian just trying to cross. Why do Haligonians, with their reputation of being kind and considerate and friendly, turn into such thoughtless assholes once they slide behind the wheel of a vehicle? —Walker

  1. Just because NS people have the reputation of being nice doesn’t mean people here don’t have bad days, moodswings, and some poor attitudes like everywhere else!!!!!!

People are either lost in their thoughts, not paying attention, in a rush, etc….!

  2. You obviously have not been far from Canada’s Ocean Playground or if so, have forgotten that idiots-behind-wheels are everywhere, and not just a Nova Scotia phenomenon. La Belle Province has a class all it’s own. Je me souviens.

  3. you must have been sitting at joe howe and dutch village roads. people sit there thru green arrows, all the fucking time. makes you wanna give them a huge fucking shove out of the way. and these idiots are not turning left at all, going straight.

  4. Why does it always seem that the first car in line is the most oblivious to the light change?

  5. yeah melectric… then delete them. you know the amount of duplicate entries they’re already storing?!?!?

  6. I use my horn frequently and with gusto! Especially when people stop on Quinpool at rush hour and pretend not to see the no stopping signs.

I also like to take pictures of the nose pickers, including the picker/eater lady in the Opal Sage Metallic CRV on Connaught to Quinpool every day just after 5.

Some day I’ll post my collection on Flickr. Cause it rhymes with picker.

  7. Imagine – Traffic Nose Pickers Flickr Slideshow. People could add to it!

I also have an entertaining collection of dogs waiting in cars for their parents.

Oh – and a picture of 2 hillbillies stealing from a donation bin in broad daylight by the Tantallon Wilson’s!

I love my camera! Zoom zoom!

  8. Y’know, I just moved here from Massachusetts (yeah, I know, I’m a ‘masshole’ driver!) and I was asking myself the same thing behind the wheel the other day. How much of this civility is politeness and how much is just being totally freaking oblivious?
