I think it was Gloria “McClucker” who propsed the ban. The CBC site has some info about it, response overall on their site is Fuck Off, but as it’s CBC and not Bitch, it’s said a tad more daintily

Being childless (by choice), I don’t give a rat’s ass if people have a few at a public event, I have doneso myself, but I can guarantee you, if I had kids, I would avoid public celebrations with beer tents like the plague – who needs drunken asshats screaming profanity and staggering at a public event you can take your kids to?
By the way – at the Scottish Festival last year, the organizers (in their infinite idiocy) put the beer tent (complete with live band) right next to the Competitive Highland Dancing and nowhere near the Highland Games.
So little girls up there trying to win a dance competition had the band’s music playing louder than theirs, and drunken morons starting fights with security or other people, and staggering through the performers’ parents on the way to watch the Caber Toss.
Maybe banning alcohol is not the way to go, but less douchebaggery in overall organization would be good.
Banning alcohol is stupid. Those that want to drink will simply do so before hand and THEN show up.
perhaps denying drunk and staggering people another drink should be put higher on the priority list? I mean, I can pack em away as good as the next raging alcoholic but take a hell of a lot to get drunk….
