The Metro Transit doesn’t permit open drinks on their buses; everybody knows that. How old was the coffee-drinker?
I often wondered how bus drivers put up with such morons on the buses everyday, you must have the patience of a saint because there would be no way in hell I would be able to stand the general public that often, on a bus (it already kills me to use the buses everyday for that reason). Sorry you have to put up with such bull. I wish people weren’t such children.
On the #2 on Saturday the driver was drinking coffee from a paper cup and his spouse was standing beside him drinking from his cup also.
The no drink policy on Metro Transit is idiotic anyway. I’ve never been in another city with a similar policy.
1.80 fare — was the coffee drinker a senior? Because, judging from the sample of old folks I’ve dealt with today, the vast majority feel they should have special privledges like line jumping, for instance, and in this case (if the coffee drinker was a senior), drinking coffee on the bus.
But what do I know. I’m pissed off as FUCK today, so things are irritating me probably more than they should.

Also, I think $1.80 refers to the cost of the coffee, not the bus fare.

Yesterday I got on the bus to go see a friend and this girl was bitching out the bus driver because he wouldn’t let her stay on the bus for another trip around. I’m not really sure of all the details, but she LOST it at him and said he was a fucking asshole and pointed her finger in his face and said “fuck you”. The driver stayed calm the whole time explaining the rules to her… If I wasn’t scared of her attacking me, I would have said something to her. I don’t get how people can be so rude.
Jesus, I’m glad there aren’t usually any nut jobs on my regular commuting route. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone pitch a fit on a bus in a long time.

My ‘rents do the blue canoe coffee too. I don’t like just regular brewed coffee – but I am in love with cappucinos at Java Blend! I have to limit my intake to a couple/wk or I woudl be bouncing off the walls screaming “weeeeeeee!”
I just take my caffeine in pill form (only 50 mg at a time)…

McD’s coffee is awesome. The rest of the menu can be stuffed up a rhino’s crack for all I care. Tim Hortons peels off the lining in my stomach and spits it through my ass.

Coffee is icky. Sorry, I should correct myself, black coffee is gross. Adding sugar and cream to anything will obv make it taste better, you cheaters!
Second cup for me when it comes to just plain ol’ coffee. I love starbucks drinks, but not their coffee. It’s just too strong/bitter.

Once I actually apologised to the bus driver on behalf of my friend who did exactly what the OP descibes. The reason she did it is because she is spoiled and rich, and thus never takes the bus… but besides all that she has a good heart, if one is patient enough to see it manifest.
When Angus (my car) was temporarily on life-support (he’s a little better now) I had to do a lot of hoop-jumping to get from New Ross to Halifax… including taking an 84 bus from Sackville. One day I had the nicest driver who had to explain to some so-called ‘young adult’ that he could not bring the coffee on the bus. It was a hoot to watch the guy screaming obscenities, flipping the driver off, all that jazz. The driver was cool, he just shrugged and said: ‘Some bus drivers enforce the rule, some don’t.’ I just laughed thinking about the way that kid looked to others as he screamed at a bus that was no longer there.
I get a neat little cafe mocha hazlenut dealie-o from a gas station on HWY 14… yummmmm!

I’m with you PK, I hate Starbucks coffee. Love their lattes, but their coffee tastes burnt. I drink Timmie’s at school because I’m po’, but at home I brew Just Us. Their coffee is the bee’s knees.
I don’t like coffee unless it’s in slushie or icing form.
There are a huge amount of people who love their coffee beans burnt, the water run through 50ft of rubber hose (after its sat in the sun all day) !
But those dubble dubble lovers gotta have that fix….maybe there’s some ‘crack’ in there as well !
I have to agree that the Mickey Dee’s coffee isn’t bad, they haven’t figured out how to completly ruin a cranberry muffin either.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that finds Starbucks coffee super bitter. I like all of their fancy drinks, but not the coffee.

Heathro: it’s bitter beyond belief! I put four packets of splenda in their breakfast blend once (their lightest roast) and it STILL tasted bitter and was utterly undrinkable. I like second cup’s flavoured coffees! The hazelnut has an amazing nutty flavour. And they really do make a gingerbread latte to die for! mmm

tims is shits, starsucks is worse,java bendover is crap,second gulp is slime called coffee. the gas bars are yucky. the best coffee to get, is the one you make at home. brewed to your standards, fixed the WAY you want it. but please now, black coffee gross, i drink mine ala nude all the time. adding anything to it, detracts away from any flavour it has. almost like loading up a burger with all that crap, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, and anything else. if you are going to eat a hamburger, then make it out of fucking ham, hence the name. not have a conglomeration of shit and say it makes it taste better. how the fuck could you tell, with all the extra crap on it, same as coffee. or anything else for that matter, including and not exclusive to pussy.

They don’t call it Starsucks for nothing. I tried one when they first opened at Chapters in Dartmouth. How anyoine can drink that sludge is beyond me. A couple of years later I thought I’d give it a second chance. Still crappy. I haven’t tried anything else. My philosophy is if a coffee shop can’t make a good cup of coffee, then the rest of their coffee products suck. Not to mention their ridiculous prices.
I’ve taken to just making mine at home in the morning and bringing it to work with me. Though there’s a little breakfast/lunch place near my office that makes a great mid-morning coffee for me.

heatro, funny you should speak of gingerbread latte, a guy i know that works for baxter’s milk, said there will be a bunch of new stuff coming out soon. one of them is gingersnap, another is cinnamon flavour milk. takes all kinds of tastes i guess. will give them a shot tho.
Second cup makes a better gingerbread latte than starbucks, Heathro. I order my skinny and put two splenda in it (a medium). I like starbucks’ eggnog lattes though…DELICIOUS. I get some weird warm fuzzy feeling when I have one of those. mmm. I might have to drop and get one on the way home now! lol
