I am going to be working in customer service for probably my whole career. I have a job for now and I am in school currently but when I get out I am still going to be working with people in customer service, just in a different field. Regardless of where I have worked I have always been yelled at (or witnessed my co-workers being yelled at) by customers who don’t get their way. Grown-ass people throw tantrums in a store, in public with other customers around. Are you for real people?
Tonight I was unable to assist a customer because of something out of my hands. I would probably have been able to help them out tomorrow but I needed to confirm importunate things with THEIR information but because the office is closed and no one answered the phone I couldn’t confirm it for them. What did I get when I told the customer I couldn’t help them tonight…I got called an ugly bitch and a dirty cunt.
I told the guy off! I swore right back at him but honestly I hate being aggressive with people, I hate raising my voice but I hate being called nasty things more. I will always stand up for myself. If you don’t get what you want it’s usually not really the customer service reps fault they are most likely just doing their job. I think people need to calm the fuck down and stop yelling at each other. -Ugly Bitch

You won’t maintain ANY job being an ugly bitch, a dirty cunt or telling me off because I didnt yet my way…
Yeah, um, you’re a really good employee and it really bothers me to have to do this but http://theptdc.com/wp-content/uploads/2011…
Customers tend to have a very one dimensional way of thinking and their world is the only one that counts. Try not to let them drive you off your game or bring you down to their level. As difficult as that can be.
I really dislike rude people. I can’t imagine any situation in a store or business dealing where that customer’s language would be justified.
if you witnessed someone being cruel to another being and were outraged – I suppose you could start screaming and cursing. but over some kind of service frustration? ridiculous.
anyone who just lets fly with any foul thought when they get angry or frustrated or impatient has no self control, no manners and is a stupid immature brat. no matter the age. and they should be ashamed to be so weak.
Yeesh, sorry that happened to you OP but am glad you stood up for yourself. Working for the public doesn’t make your their punching bag, I’d have done the same thing. Kudos.
Back in the day, I had one customer call me a ‘cunt’. At least, I told him, a cunt was useful. He backed down after that and was sweet as shit to me for the rest of my employment with that packaging company.
You did right, OP. If I had been standing next to you, I would have joyfully joined in.
