Alright, can someone give me the contact of the apartment board.
I got a dick of a landlord who litterally bit off my head when I called him at 2am after knocking off work and finding a huge water bubble on the ceiling of my kid’s room.
After much fuss he decided to deflect blame and accinuate that we are loud and invite people who cause trouble in the apartment.
Now, I am a patient man, I am a reasonable person. I let him rant and rave because I’ll just chalk that up to being tired and not wanting to be awaken.
However, when he told me that the problem would be LOOKED at come the end of MARCH. I’m not going to accept that.
I’m sorry, but there are two holes in the ceiling with water pouring out. If you don’t want to do it, then find someone who can do it within the week!
And I’m sorry but waiting a MONTH means that my kids would be exposed to mold and end up a patient at the IWK.
I honestly can’t afford to move since I just changed jobs and money is tight.
I’m at my wits end!

Don’t be so fucking lazy, look it up yourself on Google on in the phone book. Perhaps the water leak is your reward for being somewhat cranky on this board.
Tenancy Board – It’s part of the Motor Vehicle Office. There is a fee to file a report but they DO take you seriously.Good Luck.
It might cost twenty bucks to put in a complaint, but if more people actually did take their landlords to legal task about their slumlordery, maybe they’d think twice before trying to screw tenants. Good luck.
Is it a typo or did you really call at 2a.m? In that case, I can kind of imagine that he’d tell you off seeing as though it probably could’ve waited another 7 hours and you couldn’t possibly have expected him to do anything about it at that time anyway…As shitty as it is, you should move. Chances are, the mold wouldn’t just be confined to your kid’s room- its probably throughout the entire structure, especially if its having leaks like you describe. I hope you don’t have carpet!Good luck~
Gimpy I’ve had similar problems with my landlord Transglobe!! And Gimpy i’m with you on this , no matter its in your kids room, it should be dealt with. I had my senior mom living with me and I got pissed at my leaky bathroom. Residential tenancies are worth shit, may as well call them landlord tenancies gimpy, go to Halifax Coalition Against Poverty they helped me fight my dick ass landlord and I won. Gimpy i’ll think positive thoughts for you and your family dude! I’m on your side
oh and gimpy doesn’t suprise me about your landlord accusing, Transglobe does that ! They weed out the ahem trouble makers to try and get rid of them then jack up the rent for the next victim i mean tenant. Good luck gimpy!
I soooooo agree with ginger, Tenancy board does absolutely nothing. They’re just a bunch of lazy bums hired by the city to fill chairs. I had to call them a couple of times and one actually asked if I was calling to get then to help me with my issue, to maybe talk to the landlord and put pressure on him/her. Why the fuck would i be calling you moron with a landlord problem if i didn’t need help?!
So how does calling someone on their inconsideration for not following the rules on a bus on a message board tantamount to children being sick from mold posioning “ex-Haligonian”?And actually, I decided it would save time to get feedback from an audience that is typically renters and more likely than not would have been in a similiar situation. I already called bi-laws and called for someone to come in and inspect and still am waiting. Yes I did call at 2am, because I was hounding them back and forth for two months and they just shuffled around trying to do-it-themselves.I did offer to bring in someone to do it but the landlord wouldn’t talk about rent compensation so I am not going to lose out of pocket for their building.I took pictures and was wondering about which group actually DID something about it rather than going through a couple months of red tape and my kids getting sick.
gimpy i encourage you to go to halifax coalition against poverty they rock seriously!
Great! Now I have that song ‘Waterfalls’ by TLC stuck in my head!! Grrr!!!:-P
i think she has justification in knocking on his door in the wee hours of the morning. how would she know if it’s just a leak or a worse problem? Ginger and others: re: your bad experiences with landlords, that’s really scary for a newcomer to hear about this. think i’ll pack my bags for PEI at the end of my lease
That’s the downside of being a landlord, you get called when there is a building emergency…and water pouring out the ceiling is an emergency if I have ever heard of one.
not quite to some though, Christopher. i read another bitch that no heat (even in winter ) is not even considered a 24/7 emergency.btw i think your penis joke was funny. it sounded like you were offended by my reference , when in fact, i was actually agreeing with you 🙂
http://news.therecord.com/News/Local/article/315678 Do you live here?
pei has badlandlords too, they are all over the place cause they prey on low income people!
