I was having a shitty day to begin with, and then I’m crossing the street on Grafton and a man decides he wants to look at my tattoos. No big deal, I’m a heavily tattooed woman, I’m used to it. I’ve started telling people they can look but don’t touch me as they don’t see with their hands. Anyway, this dude wants to look at my arm, puts his hand out and I said “Don’t touch me, but you can look at it.” So he decides it’s okay to go against my wishes, grabs me by the wrist anyway—tightly might I add—and licks his thumb. I am assuming his plan was to try and rub off my tattoos. I immediately pulled my arm out of his grasp and said “They’re fucking real dude, don’t fucking touch me,” and he started laughing and talking shit as I hurriedly walked away. This little interaction completely ruined my day. How dare you touch a woman who voices that she doesn’t want to be touched, and then what was your plan? To rub your spit on my fucking arm? What is fucking wrong with you? Don’t touch women, period. Don’t touch women who say they do not want you touching them. Don’t try to lick off my tattoos. You’re fucked man. I don’t know how any part of your body thought that any of that was ok. I hope you see this and you never touch another woman like that again, and I hope you know you made me feel incredibly violated. Fuck you. —All Tattooed Women

  1. I believe OB that this happened as described but reject the implication that this is representative of a common interaction between men and women. Sounds like buddy had a few screws loose. OB doesn’t actually say “Most men are like this” but it does seem to be implied and I find it hard to believe that this happens regularly.

  2. I don’t think she said it happens regularly or that most men do this. She was very specific that this was the action of one person, and she has a very valid point.
Don’t try to turn this into a man-bashing, feminist rant because it’s not. We all have the right to control who touches us and who doesn’t regardless of the circumstances.

  3. Valiant attempt at a straw-man argument there Safety Guy — but a fail, I’m afraid. Nowhere did I claim that she doesn’t have the right to control who touches her and who doesn’t, that was not in any way a point that I was making or intending to make, nor can I see how you would have been able to draw that conclusion from what I said. Can you explain how you arrived at the conclusion that this was what I had meant? I very clearly acknowledged that OB doesn’t state that all men are like this so I’m not sure what your actual argument is. Can you explain?

IMO It does seem to be implied, however, that this happens to OB on a regular basis. She is constantly telling people that they don’t look with their hands and signs off with All Tattooed Women. OB is specifying the genders here, not me, but obviously assigns significance to the genders of the offenders and the victims of this unwanted touching.

Now of course this is because she is writing from her perspective and I am not trying to say that every narrative should be gender inclusive — that is ridiculous, though I am sure that will be your next attempt at virtue signaling, so just want to nip that in the bud right now. However, in this case, it does alter the tone of the bitch, or how I read it anyway.

  4. It’s called assault, you should have called the police. Chances are they know the guy.

  5. I’m still waiting to find out how safety guy took the leap from “I don’t think this nut job represents the behavior of the average person (man)” to “everyone has the right to touch you (woman)”…

  6. OB doesn’t actually say “Most men are like this” but it does seem to be implied and I find it hard to believe that this happens regularly.

That’s what they were going on Ho!st. Pretty clear. They took issue with you thinking it was implied that most men do this, which, while you don’t say it, implies that this is a feminist rant.

That’s how I see it anyways, could be wrong, it got a little inceptiony there.

  7. Take a step back, yes it does imply that in my opinion, I’ve already explained why. Keep in mind, I view most bitches like this through the lense of the publication that hosts them (the publication which adds the heading “Men Suck” several times a week.)

Now if you can TRY for the love of god to tell me how this = “everyone has the right to touch you” that’d be great thanks.

  8. I’d just have to guess that part was a general comment not directed at your post.

  9. That seems pretty unlikely since the rest of the paragraph was addressing me.

For the record: “We all have the right to decide who touches us” is like “hands are for helping, not for hurting.” We’re taught this in kindergarden, you are not a social hero for regurgitating the obvious.

  10. To the OP:
I would have helped you with whatever course of action you would have wanted to take at the time. Reading this pisses me off. Totally assault.
